Does anyone have an emachine? If so, are they worth the money?

I had one awhile ago, but it was a rather older model. Anyway, it really depends on what you want to do with your machine. If you're a gamer, even a moderate one, forget it. The first thing they skimp on is Graphics, and you usually don't get an AGP port, so your stuck with the slower PCI if you ever decide to upgrade. Also, alot of times you'll see the Celeron CPU's used instead of the P4's or the Athlon's. Celerons are slower by design and their front side bus is not as fast.

Again, it really depends on what you plan to use it for. If you're using a Pentium 2, you'll notice a BIG increase, but still don't expect to do any cutting-edge gaming. It really comes down to whether or not you do cutting-edge gaming or alot of video-intensive software.

Thanks so much, that did help. I think it would mostly be used to write reports and access the internet, so it sounds like it should work just fine.

And, yes, if that is what you plan to use it for, I think you will have no problems.

If you think you will ever want to do any gaming in the future, just make sure you get one that does include at least an AGP port.

I use an emachine and I think it works great.

I have one, there slow at some times,but after you clean them out they work fine for me at least.
