Most Underrated Character - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

Who do you all think is the most underrated or "unsung" character of LITB? I would first think of Gus. Beaver often came to him for advice that he couldn't get even from Ward and June, and he was always full of worldly and practical knowledge!

I always felt bad for Aunt Martha. The boys did nothing but complain when she'd visit. But they were apparently the only family she had, and I know she loved them. I love the ep where she dresses Beaver in the Victorian suit with shorts. Does anyone know the whole story of June and Aunt Martha? I know Aunt Martha raised June for the majority of her childhood. What happened to June's parents

I'm sorry I can't agree with you about Aunta Martha. I am more of an Uncle Billy fan!

I don't think they ever told the story of June's parents. I don't know why Aunt Martha raised her either, as they mention June's parents when Ward was courting her and all.

I would say Gus as well, he seemed like he could be a grandfather figure to Beaver. He reminds me of my grandpa anyway. As for the story about Aunt Martha, the only thing I know is that June became very close to her because she spent every summer with her and her parents seemed to just disappear from her life or so it sounds to me. Some parents!

Okay, you read my mind, so I've started a new poll asking: Uncle Billy or Aunt Martha? BTW, Edward Buchanan (better known as Uncle Joe of "Petticoat Junction"), who plays Uncle Billy, also played Captain Jack in ep #2??

Very Strange. Although I still maintain that Beaver never looked cuter than when Aunt Martha dressed him up in the li'l suit and shorts.

Maybe he was "cute" but I can only imagine how humiliating that would have been for him!
