Default Ms. Longoria Upset Over Golden Globe Snub

from IMDB.....

Quote:
Longoria's Globe Snub Over Dying Aunt

Desperate Housewives star Eva Longoria fears she was refused a Golden Globe nomination because she missed the Hollywood Foreign Press Association's (HFPA) lunch to visit her dying aunt. The actress, who plays Gabrielle Solis in the hit ABC drama, complains she was snubbed by the HFPA because seeing her beloved aunt for the last time was more important to her than improving her profile abroad. While Longoria's acting talents weren't recognized this year, her four of her co-stars - Marcia Cross, Teri Hatcher, Felicity Huffman and Nicolette Sheridan - all up on for awards at the January ceremony. She explains, "I didn't go to the Hollywood Foreign Press luncheon. I had a very sick aunt in Texas, and that was the last time I was going to see her. They were giving her last rites, and she was like a grandmother to me. I think that not going to the lunch contributes to the fact that the foreign press doesn't know me. I'm brand new, and I didn't meet them - and they were upset that I didn't go. It's always a disappointment whenever you don't get an accolade from the industry."

I said this on another thread, but I don't think it's because she missed the luncheon. Are we to believe that every nominee attends the luncheon? No, I think it's because the writers have her having an affair with a seventeen year old high school student. There's a big difference with being morally wrong, and being criminally wrong. We've seem so many cases in the news lately where older women (lots of teachers) are having affairs with students, and it lands them in the pokey.

If this character was an older man, and he was having an affair with his seventeen year old female sitter, he'd have been locked up long ago. Actually, I don't think they would have even done that storyline. The writers need to put an end to this storyline, and if she wants to fool around, have her do it with someone who is legal.

I think it's too bad she wasn't nominated. I love this show, and I think the cast is wonderful. I just find this affair with a kid sick. Too bad they didn't have the lawn guy a freshman in college and 18 or 19. I think it's just a legal thing. Her character mentions that she thought the police were after her (someone turned her in), so whatever state they are in, the legal age must be over 17.

Yeah, lets give her an award for bedding a minor. I think not.

My thoughts go out to Eva and her family, in regards to her aunt...

Ok, I don't think they award actors based on the storyline, I think it's more along the lines of their acting abilities.

I think it was because she didn't go to the luncheon, I've heard of this before, where actors get snubbed for not attending a globe sponsored luncheon. Also Eva herself said she's fairly new to the industry(even having been on the Young and the Restless) and that's another reason why as well.

Yep, it's not that they were saying that Eva is a bad actress, it's just that she's new to primetime and she's not as well known as the other actresses.

No disrespect to the actresses but I've never heard of any of them before Desperate Housewives.

I had seen Teri Hatcher, though, in those Radio Shack commercials but didn't know who she was.

Seriously?

Marcia Cross played Kimberly Shaw on Melrose Place

Teri played Lois Lane on Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman(which is where I got my screenname from an episode of L&C)

Felicity Huffman was on SportsNight

Nicollette Sheridan was on Knots Landing

Eva Longoria was on Young and the Restless for awhile.

Well I'm only 14 so I was young when Melrose Place first came on, not a fan of daytime soaps, I think I've heard of SportsNight (it was a sitcom...right?) but I've never seen it and don't know much about it, and I've never seen Lois & Clark...

That's probably why I've never heard of any of these ladies before Desperate Housewives.

Okay, understandable

Yeah SportsNight was a sitcom, didn't last long though. They all had their own shows before DH, except Eva

You can find out more about them here:

Actually, besides Teri, Eva is the only one I was familiar with. Of course I am a huge Y&R fan, so that has something to do with it. She was excellent on Y&R...very evil!

Same. Except Teri, I knew her name, and I knew she was hot
