OK, I got to thinking last night about all the remakes they do of old television shows and I was wondering IF they ever did a remake of Sanford and Son into a movie, who would you cast in the roles of Fred, Lamont, Aunt Ester, Grady, etc. Would the cast even have to be black, maybe they could be white, Hispanic, Jewish, etc.??????? Maybe part of this comes from seeing the commercials for the live-action remake of "Fat Albert they are doing.

NOTE: This is only a question to generate discussion. Please don't post responses like the 'Redd Foxx et al. can never be replaced,' yadda, yadda, yadda . . . please move on to another thread if this question will cause you that much pain. LOL! This is only a theorhetical question to discuss an interesting "what if" question.

Reynaldo Rey as Fred

Denzel Washington as Lamont {I hate to give Denzel a boring character}

Paul Rodriquez as Julio

Eddie Murphy as Rollo

Cicely Tyson as Esther

Lou Gosset as Grady

George Wallace as Bubba

Will Smith as Smitty

Jim Carrey as Hoppy

Diana Ross as Donna

Talk about all-star cast. This took a lot of thought.

He does stand-up comedy sometimes on BET's comic view. He appeared on some episodes on 227, and he appeared in House Party. He's an older black man.

I don't like the idea of these movie remakes of old TV shows, since they generally don't match the show.

But after watching the season 5 DVD set, I can't resist giving just one choice.

The Fritzi Burr characters - LYNNE RUSSELL, definitely!
