Default Diana DeGarmo Sells Poorly

Well, Apperently, Diana DeGarmo's debut album, 'Blue Skies' sold around 40,000 in it's first week...

which i understand was excpeted, seeing how it had low promotion and came out at a bad time...

anyways, i hope it doesnt drop any lower, and unlike another idol runner-up who sold poorly, I think this will just work in Diana's favor when she graduates in June...

Since she now has the connections she needs set, and i doubt Clive Davis will let go of her without a fight....lol

It sold 47,000 or something.

It's obviously not fantastic, but it's not dreadful either. The number of albums sold isn't really THAT bad (but it still is very disappointing). This season has been a competitive time to release an album, and if she had released it in March or April or something, it would've ranked in the 20s-30s, rather than 52.

On top of that, no promotion was put into this. Many Diana fans have no idea it's out. Had I not had the internet, I wouldn't have known about it.

Hopefully with her single that's just been released, it'll sell better.

they gave her a lot of ****ty songs to sing. I dont think RCA cared too much about her. They didnt even do anything neat to her cd... its just plain white. and ugh I hate the font on the back of the cd that lists the songs. I knew it'd do bad, but I still love Diana. The Diana on my cd though isn't the same one I loved on AI or at the concert.

It's not RCA's fault. It's the fact that the American public is more than willing to embrace these people while they're on tv enjoying 15 minutes of fame. BUT unless you're a Kelly or Clay, people just aren't going to be willing to go out of their way to embrace them. Kelly-because she was the first and has ''name recognition.' Clay-because people just geninuely like him. The rest, including Fantasia, are just knock offs in a lot of peoples eyes.

Actually, it is RCA's fault. I know alot of Diana fans and they didn't even know she had an album out, due to her lack of promotion. And whose fault is that? RCA's

Yup They released the single to radio THE SAME DAY as the day as her release. They should've given the single to radio before the album release, to kinda, promote it, like they did with Kelly and "Breakaway".

Yeah that would've been a better idea, so everyone would be familiar with her.

I don't really care about her. Besides I'd wipe clean her music with a bottle of Bic(TM) WiteOut...or even BlackOut...and then some...:cannon :alien1to take back to their home planets a few parsecs out.

I agree with it being RCA's fault, but I also agree with pna42. RCA shouldve promoted it well, but maybe they knew ahead of time that even if they had promoted it, it still wouldnt have shattered records or anything. But I also think that its true that while on the show, we might be rooting for someone, but once its over, we dont like them anymore. Thats not the case for me, but a lot of people do get into the show and once it ends they could care less.

Also, this season the competition between the final two wasnt as strong. For AI2, all season it was Ruben vs. Clay, blah blah blah, so when they both were final 2, the fans had to prove who really was the best- through sales figures and long after the show. This season, it wasnt always Fantasia vs. Diana. Most of the time it was between the '3 divas'.
