Question Skipping two grades?

When this show first started, in 1993, they were in the 6th grade. Then all of a sudden, in the fall of 1998, they're entering college?

They skipped grades because the heads of the show weren't sure if the show would last so they put the characters in their senior year when they should've been in 11th grade so that they could develop and mature before the show's end. But the show went on for two additional years and things worked out.

They always get away with those kinds of things on sitcoms.

Yeah I noticed that, when I was in 5th grade they were in 6th, then when I was in about 8th or 9th grade they were in 12th, I was confused for a while, then I figured out that they were in sitcom mystery world.
