Default Nick@Nite Draws Record Audience Levels -- Most Watched Year EVER

NICK AT NITE DRAWS RECORD AUDIENCE LEVELS, SCORES ITS HIGHEST-RATED AND MOST-WATCHED YEAR EVER IN NEARLY 20-YEAR HISTORY

Santa Monica, CA, December 8, 2004 – For 2004 to date, Nick at Nite is poised to record its highest-rated and most-watched year ever among total viewers and in its target demo, Adults 18-49, in the network’s nearly 20-year history in total programming day. The network’s success is powered this year by its first foray into original programming, the addition of The Fresh Prince of Bel Air and enduring favorites The Cosby Show and Roseanne.

For the year to date, according to Nielsen Media Research (12/29/03-12/5/04), Nick at Nite is posting a 0.6/656,000, a +20% increase in rating and +18% in delivery over last year. Among persons 2+, the network increased its total viewer audience by +19% over last year, delivering an average of 1.4 million viewers.

Programming highlights from the year to date include:

· The launch marathon showcase for The Fresh Prince of Bel Air (9/13-9/16, 9 p.m.-6 a.m. ET/PT) helped crown Nick at Nite with its most-watched week in network history. The marathon averaged a 0.7/787,000 among A18-49, a strong +62% increase in delivery over last year’s average and topping the network’s previous record week in the demo, the September, 1996 marathon launch of Happy Days. Also, among A18-49, the network improved its rating over the same week last year by a healthy +40%.

· The network’s "The Cosby Show Viewers Choice Marathon,” which celebrated the 20th anniversary of the hit sitcom (11/1 from 10:00p.m.-6:00am ET/PT) posted a 0.7/732,000 among its target demo, a +40% increase in rating and a +27% increase in delivery versus last year. Among persons 2+, the network drew an average of 1.7 million viewers, a +46% rise from last year.

· Nick at Nite’s 11 p.m. (ET/PT) showing of Roseanne (Mon.-Sun.) is posting a 0.8/830,000 among A18-49, a +33% ratings increase and up +39% in delivery over last year. Among persons 2+, the show is delivering over 1.6 million viewers, a +21% lift over prior-year levels.

· Nick at Nite’s overnight block of hit programming (3:30a.m.-6 a.m.) featuring The Cosby Show, Wings and Full House is posting a 0.6/617,000 among Adults 18-49, a +20% increase in rating and up +25% in delivery versus 2003. Among persons 2+, the network is averaging 1.1 million viewers, +29% more than last year.

Good news for Roseanne and Wings. It's nice to see Wings actually acknowledged for once. Too bad it's right when it's about to leave.

Now that is surprising, i didn;t think any show could do well in a 4am timeslot. Hell, i didn;t think Wings could do well in a 8pm timeslot-lol

That didn't mention Wings particulary. It mentioned the 3:30am-6am block. I'm sure Full House is the one getting the ratings then anyway, since 5-6am in the east coast can be 8-9am if anyone has Nick2.

Wings didn't do well I know for a fact when it aired at 11 and 11:30pm.

That is true, but I know I'm a night owl and stay up at at times to watch it at 4 am

Personally I feel they didn't give it chance to get ratings at that timeslot

They gave it a chance. It was down well into the double digit percentile from its lead in, when it aired at 11 and 11:30pm. Three's Company was brought in from late night again to save them, just like when Coach bombed. Then they moved Wings I think to 1am, and it didn't do well there either, but they kept it there for a while. It did much better in the latenight hours of 3:30am or 4am. But for 11pm & 11:30pm it had probably the worst ratings for Nick@Nite in that slot ever. That's why they removed it in less than 2 weeks. Coach, Family Ties and Wings all had chances in primetime, but they didn't perform. Who's the Boss? is in the middle, it certainly didn't bomb in primetime like those, but it certainly didn't have high ratings like Roseanne or Cosby Show. Now, shows that didn't have much chance, because they were put into latenights automatically were shows like Perfect Strangers, Head of the Class and Charles in Charge. Charles in Charge was doing very well then, too. Too bad the contract expired after one year.

It didn't say "Wings" was the weak link of the late night lineup either. It must be doing well on TV Land since they haven't taken it off prematurely.

I think it's just sad that this is N@N's highest rated year ever. It's not the worst year (to me) but it certainly is in the bottom five worst years of N@N. Now, N@N's showing an Original cartoon and a reality show (The Family Face-Off Thing). The only show that I watch (or would watch if I didn't have a job and could stay up late) is "Wings".

What's funny to me is that they say N@N is for the young adults to watch the shows they grew up with. However, I grew up watching N@N - so they need to bring back "My Three Sons"and the rest!!!

****
And this isn't intended to be rude or mean, I know you don't have to like what I like, but Pavanbadal, why don't you like "Wings"?

I wonder how Murphy Brown will perform with it joins N@N. It's sharing the hour with Roseanne - N@N's highest rated show so it should do ok imo.

My question is, why did "Wings" do so well on USA (at one point they showed it 4 times a day) but once it came to N@N it was so low rated. What was the big change? Is it that people like "Wings" earlier in the day or that USA got people sick of the show, airing it so much?

From what I hear, MB doesnt do well in syndication. Unfortunatley i think it will be shoved to a late night timeslot, like any show thats not Cosby, Fresh Prince, Roseanne, or Full House

The thing with MB is that's it's a very 90's kind of show. Most of its jokes or implications were about stuff that occured in that particular decade.

I didn't know your a fan of MB......... you seem to be into more family oriented shows. If you think Roseanne is vile then you probably won't care much for MB either as it's not very family oriented.

Has N@N ever posted ratings for Wings? I'm of the mindset that if they don't want to post ratings, then they can't convince me that Wings is doing that bad on N@N. I mean why should I just take their words for it if they can't even show us ratings?
