Question I don't get it????????

ok, here's the deal. I'm 16 (just turned 16), and my bf will be 18 next week. We've been together for about 3 months, and our parents never knew how old we were because we didn't think they would approve of the age difference. but yesterday, his mother found out how old I was, and flipped out. She wants us to break up, and she said if he disobeys her, she will come to my house and tell my mom how old HE is, then I'll be in trouble, and then we will definately not see eachother again (except at school). Do you all think she is wrong for this? We really really like eachother, but she's making us unhappy. Are WE wrong?

His mom is being closed minded if she disapproves just because you're a couple years younger. Its the same thing how my mom disapproves of me when I had a crush on a fat girl

Why should I divide what feels so right?
Is this where I want to lay?

Well, I think that there's nothing wrong with an 18 year old dating a 16 year old, however I guess a parent would be upset because an 18 year old can be accused of rape for having sex with a minor, or doing anything relating to sex, even if it was consentual. There was a story about a boy in Georgia who had sex with a 17 year old when he was 18. He got a bunch of years in prison, so maybe your boyfriend's mother is worried about that...

Well, did you OR he lie to her about the age difference? Or were the both of you just successful in not having to bring it up? If there was no lying about it, then it's kind of a sucky deal for you. If you did, then your parents have every right to feel that way.

At 16 you are still a MINOR. If he touches you 'the wrong way' you could accuse him of many things. Prolly that's his mom's main concern.

We are both in the same situation. We didn't lie, we just let them assume that we were the ages they thought we were, but we didn't correct them. They have rights to be angry about ur lying, but they shouldn't try to seperate us because of it.

I don't think you're wrong. I'm 16 and my bf is 19, and both of our parents are okay with it. I think your parents are overprotective.

And another thing i don't get. She yelled at him about how he was about to be a grown man dating a "child", but she's not treating him like one like a grown man. She should let him make his own decisions. Hell, my uncle lives here with me and my mom, but just because he lives under her roof doesn't mean she can tell him that his girlfriend is too young and he should break up w/ her....if she's worried about me accusing him of something, she needs to try to get to know me because I would never do that to him, or anyone.

If it were my mom she'd allow it, because she thinks the boy/man should be a good amount (1-2 years older) older than the girl.

If his mom is going to refer to him as a "grown man" then she needs to treat him like one.

Since both of your parents disapprove, you should just stay friends until you turn 18. Believe me, you'll be 18 before you know it. If you both like each other that much, it'll be worth the wait.

Yeah, I guess if it results to that that's all you can do. If you liked each other enough, you'd still like each other after a couple of years anyway.
