And let us also not forget how the conflict was resolved.
Soldiers are brave for giving up their lives for a cause. But while we honor them, we should never forget about the horrors of war. |

We had a moment of silence today for Pearl Harbor, and we also watched a documentary on it. God bless our troops

God Bless our Troops, we'll never forget those who died at Pearl Harbor on this day, way back in 1941.

My dad spent his 17th, 18th, 19th and 2oth year of his life at war in Japan during WWII. He never never admitted this to me, but I'm quite sure that the experience of four years of WWII changed his young life forever. It also had the consequence - for better or for worse - of effecting the lives of his, what was at that time, future wife and children.

did anyone see the episode of Malcolm that was on Sunday?
Hal was sick of the neighbor always out Christmasing him, so he made an insanely good Pearl Harbor memorial thing, so that he wouldnt have to compete, and his neighbor out did him. |

Which TV shows incorporated this into plots? I can think of two.
1. The Waltons with the "Day of Infamy" episode where the Walton clan witnesses, on the radio (there were no TV sets in 1941, at least not that the Waltons had), the spectacle of the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. Mary Ellen's husband Curt was stationed there as a surgeon. The original airdate was 12/7/78, the 37th anniversary. It is a very moving episode that gets my eyes watery every time I see it. 2. In the Hawaii trilogy of The Brady Bunch the tour guide takes the Brady family to the U. S. S. Arizona as one of the stops on "Battleship Row." Methinks this could branch out and move to its own thread in the "General Sitcoms Questions and Discussion" forum. |

Although not a plot scenario this a theme scenerio. The Lawrence Welk show used the Pearl Harbor anniversary for a musical theme more than once. |
