what breed and type of dog is duke jeds dog other then a hound dog?

Actualy,I doubt that the show even specified what kind of dog Duke was. |

Duke-- or whatever dog(s) played the part-- was a bloodhound. And I remember an ep in which that is specifically mentioned as Mrs. Drysdale is flaunting her snobbery about herself and that poodle wimp of hers. She calls Duke a 'mongrel,' and someone points out he is of pure breeding of probably the best tracking dog, a breed that originated in Belgium about 1100 years ago.
