Has anyone got an answer on this yet? If not I might act crazy and just try and email or contact someone connected to the show to see if they can help. You never know they just might respond...LOL

Well, I did something crazy and went to IMDB (internet movie database) and saw that Perry Botkins Jr. listed as the composer of "series original music". I looked Mr. Botkins up found his website and emailed him (see my email and his reply below). Turns out that it was his dad that did the music for the beverly hillbillies not him but he said some very kind words to me and let us all know where those magical interludes came from.

The email:

The musical interludes were composed and played by my father. I thought they were pretty neat myself. Dad would have appreciated your enthusiasm.

Mr. Botkin,

I'm so sorry for bothering you. First let me say when
looking you up for this question I was very impressed
with your body of work. It is apparent that so many
of us don't appreciate all those that work on
television, movies, commercials, etc. when it comes to
music that we come to know and love, and really for
all the other background work that goes into those
productions.

My question is, and I sincerly hope I have the right
person, the question is about all those musical
interludes on the Beverly Hillbillies, were you
responsible for those or would you know who was? For
example, the bank theme, elly's theme, or the music
that plays when they were in the ms. jane's car.

The question is just based on curiosity and this
question has also been asked many times on the website
sitcoms online.

Well, thanks for your time and thank you for your work
on the Beverly Hillbillies. The show brings back
great memories for me growing up.

Default Are there recordings?

Did you ever find recordings of those musical interludes? I've been searching everywhere with no luck.

No I'm afraid not, I was only able to determine who played/wrote them for the show. I have often thought of perhaps recording the music or as much of it as possible that does not have other audio mixed in and perhaps playing with it in my audio mixer and I might be able to come up with something useful. If I do that I will post on the site for everyone to enjoy.

What about in the episode "The Clampetts Meet Mrs. Drysdale" and her car pulls into the Clampett driveway and there is some real jazzy music. That little score was so cool and they only played it a few times.

Those were great, I loved how each member had their own music. My favorite was Aunt Pearl's Scruggs and Flat sang it on an episode. I also liked Ellie Mae's tune.

Default interlude album exists

I visited my film editor friend in Los Angeles (pert near to Beverly Hills) about 18 years ago and a dinner guest in attendance had this vinyl album featuring the B. Hillbilly interlude music. It was a vinyl album which he played for dinner. The guy seemed to appreciate and understand the uniqueness [possibly rarity] of this recording. I kick myself for not writing down the name of it because I've been looking for it since. I know it exists! I asked my friend years later who the guest was but he didn't recall--the LA, fog-memory laps thing. Can anyone site the source or name of this album? Its funny people just assume it's Earl Flat or Scruggs—but they didn't record it. The Perry Botkin (Sr.) reference above is the closest I've heard about the source of the interlude musical segments. Thanks.

Farley
