Presdient of one of the major networks, which would you choose and what changes would you make?
The networks are: ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX, WB and UPN. ________________________________________________________________ I'd take ABC. First up, I'd get rid of all reality shows. I know that's a stupid move since they are very popular. However, that's what I'd do. Then I'd work on Fridays. TGIF: 8:00 - "New Family Show" 8:30 - "New Family Show" 9:00 - "New Family Show" 9:30 - "Complete Savages" (Season 2) I'd move "8 Simple Rules" and "Less Than Perfect" over to Thursdays. I'd try to make the NBC lineup, which has gotten lower ratings this season with the demise of "Friends". "Hope & Faith" would be cancelled. Thursdays: 8:00 - "8 Simple Rules" (Season 4) 8:30 - "New Show" 9:00 - "Less Than Perfect" (Season 4) 9:30 - "New Show" =============================== Sundays: 8:00 - "New Drama" 8:30 - " " 9:00 - "Desperate Housewives" (Season 2) 9:30 - " " Mondays: 8:00 - " 8:30 - " 9:00 - " 9:30 - " Tuesdays: 8:00 - " 8:30 - " 9:00 - " 9:30 - " Wednesdays: 8:00 - "New Drama" 8:30 - " " 9:00 - "New Drama" 9:30 - " " Thursdays: 8:00 - "8 Simple Rules" (Season 4) 8:30 - "New Show" 9:00 - "Less Than Perfect" (Season 4) 9:30 - "New Show" TGIF: 8:00 - "New Family Show" 8:30 - "New Family Show" 9:00 - "New Family Show" 9:30 - "Complete Savages" (Season 2) Saturdays: 8:00 - " 8:30 - " 9:00 - " 9:30 - " I'll work out the rest of my changes later. |

i would take nbc first up i would try to make deals with some of the writers that jeff zucker ran off and bring back the real must see tv and i understand about realty tv alot of people like it and i would keep some of it on even though i myself dont care for it . but i wouldnt have it on almost every night of the week and i wouldnt use it to plug holes every time another show failed nbc used to be the network that started trends not by jumping on a bandwagon but by having good pr. with the best writers and producers in the biz. and they left those people alone to create shows to be proud of i think kevin rielly is trying to clean up some of the mess jeff zucker made but he did so much damage it will problay be the next person after him that turns nbc around.

ABC, IF Roseanne was still on the air. Otherwise it would be CBS (I'm a huge Raymond fan. )

I'd take ABC, NBC, CBS, FOX, WB, and UPN -- and make one uber-network.... ABS (American Broadcasting Station)
Expect Changes. Sundays: 7:00 - "NEW Drama" 8:00 - "NEW Drama" 9:00 - "Desperate Housewives" 10:00 - "Boston Legal" Mondays: 8:00 - "Survivor" 9:00 - "The Amazing Race" 10:00 - "NEW Reality Show" Tuesdays: 8:00 - "My Wife and Kids" 8:30 - "Two and a Half Men" 9:00 - "According to Jim" 9:30 - "George Lopez" 10:00 - "Veronica Mars" Wednesdays: 8:00 - "Jack & Bobby" 9:00 - "The West Wing" 9:30 - "NEW Drama" Thursdays: 8:00 - "Joey" 8:30 - "Will & Grace" 9:00 - "Less Than Perfect" 9:30 - "Scrubs" 10:00 - "NEW Drama" Friday: 8:00 - "8 Simple Rules" 8:30 - "NEW Sitcom" 9:00 - "Center of the Universe" 9:30 - "NEW Sitcom" 10:00 - "60 Minutes Presents: PrimeLine" Saturdays: 8:00 - "The Wonderful World of Disney" (where it's a TV show, not random movies) 9:00 - "NEW Drama" 10:00 - "NEW Drama" |

TVAdam, like you I choose ABC. Here's what I would do:
1. Put some classic comedies on (think of the threads webwarrior762004 had about the Boston and Los Angeles stations in the early 1980s) in place of the trashy talk shows. 2. Allow the affiliates to gauge public interest in shows instead of let the Madison Avenue types dictate what they air. 3. Not only cancel Desperate Housewives (or as I like to call it, Desperate Has-beens), NYPD Blue, and Life as we know it, but also apologize to the American people that those shows found a place on "the alphabet network." 4. Put together some reunions for former ABC gems The Brady Bunch (with the originals, and Gene Hackman playing Mike's role since Robert Reed is no longer with us on earth), Laverne and Shirley, Perfect Strangers, The Wonder Years, Family Matters, and Home Improvement (oh ho ho ho ho, as Tim always said )4a. Model future shows on those listed above. 5. Continue State of Grace where Fox (oops, ABC) Family left off in 2002 5a. Continue The Wonder Years to include Kevin's senior year of high school (it's been eleven--almost twelve--years since it ended so I'd probably need to find different actors to play Kevin, Paul, Winnie, etc.) 6. Work with the Parents Television Council to develop shows that kids could watch with their families without the fear of embarrassing situations. 7. Dump reality TV 8. Put Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? back on prime-time, once a week so it will get monster ratings 9. Avoid pushing the content envelope 10. Fear the FCC

As President of FOX, I would banish all reality programmng from the network.
The 100 typing monkeys that were responsible for developing those shows would be returned to the zoo.

Desperate Has-beens? Is that why all five of them have been doing talk shows and magazine covers like crazy? You want a has-been? How about the entire cast of the Brady Bunch? THEY are has-beens and are, quite frankly, nowhere near as famous as the housewives are. Embarrassing for parents to watch with their children? No, myfriend, the child will be more embarrassed when they are 40 year old virgins who live in their parents' basement. Speaking of sex as if it is a bad thing is immature. Oooh sex, scary, wow... Sexual reproduction is when a male inserts his penis into a female's vagina. Run! Don't walk! It's the truth so therefore it isn't acceptable for children to know! Children must not know what sex is and how it is done! They just can't! And goodness, watch an episode of Desperate Housewives, because it is so incredibly obvious that you have never even watched the show. It's not wall-to-wall sex! There's plotlines! And some damn good ones too! Oh, wow a couple is having marital problems! Give me a god damn break. You walk down your own street and I assure you you will come across a couple in wedded turmoil. Oh wow a woman killed herself. It happens every day. Sheltered kids become uncomfortable adults. If you shield your children from the truth for their entire childhood, you will get nothing but a sick pedophiliac virgin who has absolutely no life. Teach your kids about sex at an early age, tell them what's good and what's bad. Parents who are afraid that their kids will get messed up if they learn about sex are immature. And I am through! |

You can sense the bias in James' post when he wants to continue The Wonder Years TWELVE YEARS AFTER IT ENDED.

In adults 18-49, DH is ALMOST the number one series. CSI leads it 10.18 to 10.15 rating on the season. Without a doubt, it will be the number one series in the demo on the season.
