Sitcoms:

Cosby Show- I like to see how they change from one year to the next- in terms of music the Apollo one is the best IMo, in terms of visuals the last season with the mural is the best,

Jeffersons- the theme song rocks! I like just about all the visuals that appear throughout the various seasons except the ones from the Dallas takeoff which were used around season 9

Sanford and Son- the visuals are nothing special really but the music is so funky and really represents the series in general

Roseanne- not so much for the music but I like the way the faces morphed in the last 2 seasons (esp Lecy Gorenson morphing into Sarah Chalke that was a funny in-joke)

Dramas:

Mission Impossible- the music is great but I like how they would edit in scenes from each episode into the opening and they were always the most exciting scenes

Ironside- great theme music by Quincy Jones and very simple but effective black shadows against the blood red background

Hawaii Five 0- very well done music and visuals the only complaint is they should have given the cast members different visuals every couple of years to keep it fresh

Cartoons:

Simpsons- how they manage to come up with something different in each opening over 16 years is pretty unique and amazing

Children's shows:

The Electric Company-

They had about 4 different openings all pretty well done, esp the last 2 seasons when the actors morphed into themselves from the characters they played

Cheers had a great opening sequence.

I loved the original Friends opening, seen on the pilot, before NBC decided to muck it up and add episode footage.

The most recent Will & Grace opening is kind of cool.

Amen to that! That is why The Simpsons has a spot on my list for favorite opening. And they have more than 300 episodes under their belt, as well. I know they repeated a few openings more than once, but you are right.

I've also always been fond of the opening sequences to Home Improvement.

Although this isn't a sitcom, I've also always been fond of how Trading Spaces opens - they used the same one for seasons 2-4 and Trading Spaces Family used Trading Spaces' seasons 2-4 opening.
