"I'm Phil, Al's been dead for fourteen years you dumb son of a bitch!"

True, he didn't have great lines, but when he did, they were very good.

I really dont even remember what Al looked like, Phil was the greatest though.

WOODY: I was up all night listening to Phil talk about how he worked on the Manhatten Project

PHIL: Try living with that on your conciencse for 50 years!

SAM: Is my life getting that boring?

NORM: Sam, your life is getting so boring that Cliffy and I were thinking of living vicariously through Phil (that line isnt right, but you get the idea)

PHIL: (Talking to a much younger woman) So I take my socks out of the dryer, and one's missing!

SAM: What do you all think of Rebecca and I having a baby when we aren't married?

PHIL: Move to California!

Wasn't Al the character formerly known as the Sinatra guy?

Anyway...I don't remember much of Phil.

lol, there was the episode where he was talking to Lilith in the cold opening, he said all these things like "nice weather" etc, and then he said "You ever been with an older man?"

Then Lilith got up and walked away and he scooted over to another woman and started the exact same conversation.

Phil was okay, but no one could ever beat Al. Besides Sam he was the greatest character on Cheers.

Did anybody else find it odd that there was an episode "Dedicated To The Memory of Al Rosen", yet Nicholas Colasanto got nothing??

The more I read about the production team, the more I think of them as jerks.

It was a funny thing, because I started watching the show regularly (outside of the marathon in May) in the 8th season or so, and I did like Diane from the episodes I had seen, but I really liked Woody (and still do), and just couldnt imagine that Coach could have been better...but jesus christ, Coach was great...he was so lovable too, that was the funny thing, is that he was just like a confused old man.

And he cared so much about other people, like when he got his sleeve stuck in Diane's door, but didnt want to knock so they could open it and let him out because he didnt want to bother them again.

Coach really was a great character. And so underrated. Like Ted Danson said in that interview, it's incredibly difficult to convey that sort of innocence.

What I liked about Coach was that he really was innocent.... whereas with Woody, they made it seem as if it was all an act.

Woody was obviously slow, but he was able to use the fact that everybody undermined him to his advantage. Remember the episode where he convinced Sam into giving him a higher salary? Coach, on the other hand, used his reputation to help people in ways that wouldn't insult their pride ("Rebound").

Very true, but Woody also seemed to know what he was doing in the episode where they play poker in the pool room.

But then again, speaking of poker, Coach used his reputation to win back his money from that guy in "Pick A Con, Any Con"
Which reminds me.... Harry The Hat should've been a regular.
