Question Tony Dow's Height

After watching tonight's episode with Wally and his tall date, I was wondering if anyone knows how tall Tony Dow was during the run of the show. I also noticed that Eddie appeared to be a good 2" taller, so maybe Tony wasn't very big. It is kind of interesting if he wasn't as he was always portrayed as being such a big athlete and all.

Its funny, Tony, because when the show started, Edide was a few inches shorter than Wally !!!! Even though Ken Osmond was older in real life. He was probably glad when his growth spurt kicked in!!

Anyway, to answer your question, I think the tallest Tony Dow must have gotten was around 5'7" or so...because once on Entertainment Tonight, Jerry mentioned that he was "only 5'8", and when they were both adults, they became about the same height, except Jerry was about an inch taller.

That is interesting HaskellGirl...thanks for the info! I thought it was so funny how they always portray Wally as so tough and all. They were showing Eddie as being so afraid of him, while in real life Ken Osmond could have probably beaten Tony Dow up!

Eddie was way too skinny to have been able to beat Wally up!

That's what I was going to say! Just because Eddie was taller doesn't really prove anything!

I agree that Eddie was too thin!! Wally may have been shorter, but he was all muscle!

Even in Frank Bank's book, I think he mentioned when all the guys would play basketball together, Ken was "too thin"...or something like that! Does anyone else remember this? I don't own that book so I can't check, but I remember thinkingn "what does being thin have to do with anything?" But actually, Ken Osmond is way thinner than is normal. He's obviously not weak because he was a cop, but I sorta wornder if he had an overactive thyroid or type 1 diabetes or something. Or maybe just really really high metabolism.

Yes he must have been plenty tough to have been an L. A. cop! I have never read Frank Bank's book either HaskellGirl. I still do think it was kind of silly the way they had him act so afraid of Wally when he was obviously taller!

I don't think height has anything to do with why or why not Eddie was afraid of Wally, I think he was afraid of him because once he pushed Wally's buttons just right he stood up to him and looked him straight in the eyes and wouldn't back down in a potential fight. Eddie was a big talker and I thought he was also a coward at times. I also think that deep down, Eddie looked up to Wally and cared about how or what Wally thought of him.

Eddie was afraid of Wally, Wally was once afraid of Lumpy, Lumpy was afraid of Eddie and Wally, and Beaver at times was afraid of all of them and at times afraid of none of them

Eddie was of course a big talker but I don't necessarily think he was a coward. I also think he added a nice bit of rebelliousness to the sometimes too timid Cleaver boys!

Wally must have had small feet too. In tonight's episode he said the size 9 skates would be "way too big" for him. I guess I am not not like my "namesake" size wise!

Don't get me wrong, I love Eddie, he is a riot. What I meant by him being a coward is that when he pulled things on Beaver, he did it behind Wally's back because he knew Wally would "give him the business". You gotta admit, Wally would not back down if he was pushed too far and Eddie knew it!

That's true about Eddie going behind Wally's back. I just always feel that the writers made Wally just too good to be true!

I agree that they polished Wally up too much, he was a teenager! He was polite when he should have blew up some...ex: when June made that date with that girl to take her on the family picnic. You could tell he wanted to let June have it but I suppose he wasn't going to do that with Ward standing there. I also thought they could have been somewhat more controversial with Wally being he hung out with Eddie and Lumpy but then again I suppose that would have taken away from the innocense of the show.
