Together Again-is about two longtime (childhood, high school) best friends and college roommates who reunite together after 25 years of not seeing each other. The two best friends are Denise Mason (Penny Marshall) and Janet Campbell (Cindy Williams), both now 54 years old. Denise's husband of 30 years, Richard died in a plane crash. Janet's husband of 28 years, Doug left her for his mistress (of 10 years). Janet and Denise were each other's maids of honor at their weddings. With Janet getting divorced and Denise getting widowed, they each (without knowing the other's actions) decide to move back to their hometown: Port Washington, WI. Denise and Janet bump into each other in the grocery store and decide to catch up on old times. Denise and her late hubby, Richard have two daughters: Trisha (Leah Remini) and Lauren (Traylor Howard). Trisha lives in Madison, WI with her hubby and family. Lauren lives in Boston, MA with her fiancee. Janet and her ex-hubby, Doug have a daughter, Lisa (Kimberly Williams-Paiseley). Lisa lives in Port Washington, WI. Lisa has been pondering to move back in with her recently divorced mom or not lately. Also, Denise's loopy mother, Rosemary (Betty White) makes her annual visits during the holidays. Rosemary usually can't last a whole visit without doing something that makes Denise irritated. Janet and Denise just go through life-dealing with everyday problems=work, money, life, love, ex-husbands, mothers, daughters, stress, weight-gain, etc. By the way, Denise is a receptionist at a dentist office and Janet is a bank teller at a bank branch.
