You don't have the DVDs yet? For shame!

I'm just sitting down to watch it now. I hope there's not as many clips as I've heard there are.

I liked it a lot. A nice mix of clips, interviews, and they even showed a scene or two that weren't in the original shows. It was nice to see Larry and Jerry laughing about Larry's "constant leaving" of the show.

It was good.

To be honest, it could have been better. Too many clips, like they were making it for an audience who wasn't familiar with the show. And I believe the documentary scenes were taken from the documentaries on the DVDs.

I would have preferred original footage, like Jerry's standup routine at the beginning (which I loved seeing again by the way -- he needs to do another DVD of his routine, like "I'm Telling You For the Last Time"), or rarely-seen footage, like Jerry and George's conversation about whether you'd like to be in an alien zoo or circus, which I don't think I've seen before. The bloopers were a nice touch, especially since they weren't all from seasons 1-3.

I thought that it was quite well done. Many times these "reunion" shows consist of the cast members sitting together on a stage, in director's chairs, gushingly telling each other how FUNNY they were and how much fun they had working together...but last night's "Seinfeld" special gave us real insight into how the show started, what NBC's reaction was to the series (and even to specific "unusual" episodes), how the characters were developed, how the actors were selected for the roles, etc.

My only criticism is that it should have been TWO hours long....THEN they could have discussed the series' "secondary" characters like Newman, Jerry's and George's parents, etc. It would have been interesting to find out about the development of THOSE characters, and have interview clips with people like Wayne Knight, Jerry Stiller, etc.....but other than that, I thought that it was a very interesting special...and I don't usually consider "reunion" specials to be "interesting"!

I had no idea that Megan Mullaly and Patricia Heaton auditioned for the role of Elaine Benes. Interesting stuff. I think an hour was perfect for this special. It made me want to see more.(Which I think was their intention to go out and buy the dvd)

I can't imagine Megan Mullally in the role at all. Patricia Heaton, maybe.

Rosie O'Donnell, I don't even want to imagine her in the role.

Seinfeld never would've survived.

Megan Mullally is hilarious, but I can't see Elaine being her type of role. Maybe because I only know her as Karen.

Patricia Heaton probably would have made Elaine more of a bitch.

I can't imagine anyone who would fit the 'Elaine' roll less than Rosie O'Donnell would.

I wonder if any blondes or redheads auditioned. Did Jerry/Larry only have a brunette in mind for the role?

I bet they did..that is interesting though, to wonder if they were looking for a specific hair color. As many women I'm sure they auditioned for it, I bet some would have to be of blonde/red hair color. Unless the job discription specifically said "brunettes only."

Sometimes cast call sheets ask for a specific hair color, ethnicity, etc. Not too far off to imagine that it was brunettes only.

Yeah, I could see them doing that. That could very well be the case.
