Default Comparing the 3 CSI's (spoilers)

These three series may have the same premise, but that doesn't mean everything about them is the same. It'll take a full season of CSI: NY for me to determine how good it is. It's great but I haven't had enough of the flavor. Here are some differences I noticed about each one.

CSI
This show is all about the science. The characters are very self-disciplined when it comes to forensics and they are sort of nerdish in that way. Over the past few seasons the plots have been getting much better and more unique and intriguing. In the past two seasons there were cases about transgenders, people dressing up as animals, etc.

CSI: Miami
If I were to choose between CSI and CSI: Miami, I would go with CSI: Miami. There are several reasons for this. For one thing, the characters are much better. They are better interrogators, they aren't nerdy, and they are more personable than the LV team. Secondly, it's the writing. Horatio Caine has the best lines of the show in every episode. For example,

BEGIN SPOILERS!!!!!!!!

In the second season episode, Stalkerazzi, a celebrity who has been accused of murder says to Horatio that he's so famous that he can convince a jury that he didn't do it. This is despite the fact that he has evidence against him. Horatio tells him, "Well so far you haven't convinced me. And that is not a good start."

In another episode, when a child killer/molester says he had too short of time with a girl he accidentally killed, Horatio said to him, "Life is full of disappointments."

A third example is the episode with the fires. When a man asks if he can have his ring back, he tells him, "Yes, you can have your ring back...in about 75 years."

END SPOILERS!!!

It isn't just Horatio that has great lines, the other members of the team do as well.

Another part of the show I like better is that, unlike the Las Vegas show, there is a lot more action in it. Monday's episode, for one. The "Crime Wave" episode is another one. A lot of other episodes have big action as well.

The last thing I like best about it is that the episodes can get personal. For me, some episodes have made me affected by it. The best example is the first season episode where they are in search of a child killer/molester. A little girl was killed within the first five minutes.

Another way an episode can become personal is the second season premiere episode "Blood Brothers." Seeing those arrogant brothers flaunting their diplomatic immunity after one of them hits a model with a car (it's not a spoiler, as it is found out within the first 20 minutes). You just wish they would get punished. And that guy from the government that tells Horatio to close his investigation or else the lab will lose funding and people.

That's pretty much why I prefer the Miami CSI over the Las Vegas one.

I haven't seen enough episodes of CSI NY. The characters have yet to be completely defined in my eyes and I can't tell what makes it better, good or different from the other two. If anyone else has seen anything that I haven't, please post it.

NY is my favorite, followed by the original.

I used to never care for this show, but recently I find myself watching it all the time. Miami is still fun, but it pales in comparison.

The only one I like is the original. I just can't get into the spinoffs.
