Question Baking cookies (butter ?)

Ok so I made cookies and it said for softened butter. Well, I went to soften it and it came out more like melted -.- Oops. So the dough wasnt as firm, but it wasnt soupy or anything. Anyways, is this going to make a big difference in the outcome of the cookies?

Meangya I made an eggnog cheesecake. Hell, more like 3. Had I known it was gonna make so many, I wouldve cut the ingredients in half. Not to mention Some of it wasnt mixed to nicely and its kinda chunky. Ugh. I was not made to be a lil Suzy Homemaker. </rant>

I made 2 apple pies, a pumpkin pie, pumpkin bread, and a fruit salad today. And that's just half of the deserts. My grandmother is getting too old to bake, so I have to help her out

God I felt like Martha Stewart.

Yeah, "more like melted" doesn't work when it's suppose to be softened. Try again, and let the refrigerated butter sit out for a while and soften naturally--unless you think you can soften it the quick way again without melting any part.

Thanks Well I made them regardless, adding some extra flour. Didnt seem to do too much. They taste fine and all, they just pan out a lot more and go flat. And I found a piece of butter wrapper in the first batch. Oops. -.-

I'm glad they turned out. When you said "Meangya" and "friggan pancakes" I thought they were bad news. But since they taste fine, that's what matters.

Well, they still came out like pancakes. Meangya I thought they were supposed to bake up, not spread all over the damn cookie sheet.

I am so sorry to hear about your mishaps. Unfortunately, I've been there, too. I feel your pain and frustration. Thankfully, all I baked for Thanksgiving was just a homemade pumpkin pie which came out pretty good!!

Ok, you know those eggnog cheesecakes I made too? Well, one of the ingredients was 8 oz. instant vanilla pudding. Like I knew you were only supposed to add the powder. Oh no. Instead I made the pudding with the milk and added that too the other ingredients. No wonder why it filled 3 pies!! And now its not set right. It looks like chunky custard or something. Between those and the cookies (which do taste pretty good I must say), I have had it with baking! I didnt realize the pudding incident until I thought about it today at work. So, out of frustration I made the one thing I have never f'd up.. black forest cookies.
