Default Don't some Tape Traders bug you?

Does it bug anyone else when people are just plain rude to you? Of course it does. Why are some tape traders rude? The other day I e-mailed more that 10 traders asking about their items for trade... guess what!? Zero of them responded! I would have thought they could have thought of something to respond to me about, but they did not. So does this happen a lot? Am I the only one being shuned? Please help be a part of the solution. Thanks!

Alot of times oddball email address get shot to the junk mail automatically (I run into this with folks who use email accounts from the same places I get the viagra and "enhancment" emails from. This is also a week alot of folks are out of town as well. It could be a number of legit reasons or you may not have anything they want to trade for, sometimes it's easier on some folks to not answer rather then tell someone that.

I emailed someone once saying that they didn't have anything I wanted to trade for and they repeatedly emailed me back offering different things, after I turned them all down, the person emailed me back insulting me and calling me mean.

lol, thanks for supporting my point Liam. Sometimes it's tough to deal with aggressive traders, sometimes it works out working around their ideosynchrosis sometimes not. I have in the past (very infrequently since I have been left holding garbage) offered to trade 4 blanks for 1 full DVD just to help folks who are starting out as long as they send Ritek g4 or better. Try contacting the person on the board if emails fail. I haven't really run into any "rude" traders, some that other construe as rude but never actually rude.

I couldn't have said it any better myself! It's easy enough to figure out that a trade isn't going to happen when I don't receive a response from someone. I never understand why some people can get so upset when I tell them I'm not interested in anything on their list. I realize it is disappointing when they are counting on a trade, but - if it doesn't happen - press on and look for someone else to trade with. Eventually, your trading list will grow and you will have more to entice new trades.

Default No response

richardtempleman,

I never aggressively pursue trades, and I have had traders not respond at all to a trade request. I consider no response to be rude, too. My folks raised me better.

Yep, I agree with this statement as well. I always reply as well. However, if I receive no response to my emails, I will usually send one more email - just incase the previous email was lost in cyberspace. After that, if I don't receive a response, I let it go.

I just don't understand why some people become so angry when I tell them they have nothing I'm interested in. I always try to find something - even if I don't really want it. Sometimes people have absolutely nothing at all that I have to pass completely.

I have been turned down lots for trades because I don't have a lot of sitcoms. I just move on and try to find someone else who is interested in something I have - or will take extra blanks in a trade.

This is a tough week to try to make contact. Many people are in transit, or have been preparing for a trip, or are just so busy with preparing for the holiday that answering e-mail isn't even on the list, let alone low on it. I know I've been reading e-mail, and noting mentally, "I need to answer that," but not necessarily answering e-mail as I go - after the holiday is when such things will get done. And if you're trying to set up a trade with someone where they have to review your list, that can take time that someone may not have at the moment.

Just my 2 cents, adjusted for inflation ...
