Hello all,
I'm loving this DVD set and can't believe it's in my hands. It's great to be seeing uncut episodes for once. I am truly elated. With that said, I'm noticing some glitches, or imperfections with the DVD transfer and I want to know if it's merely my set that has these problems or if it's everyone's set. Thus far, I haven't gotten through the whole first DVD yet, but I've noticed that during the episode: "The Transplant", at around 16:00, Dorothy, Rose and Sophia are discussing at the table Blanche's problem with her sister needing a kidney, and right before Dorothy says "Oh, poor Blanche", the scene seems to show some splicing or decay. It's like lines appear and distorts the picture in the middle of the scene. Anyone else spot this? Also, on "The Triangle", the picture seems to stop for a half second at 6:27, right before Dorothy comes out with an outfit and responds "The only thing I haven't tried on is the bedspread". These are minor quibbles but the reason I mention them is to make sure everyone else has these on their sets. If they're not, then I know that I should exchange my set for a better copy. That's all I've gotten through thus far. There may be more minor glitches but I haven't watched it all just yet. But I think this might be a good spot for us all to communicate any minor discrepancies that exist so that we all don't think our sets are defective. Ed |

Thanks for the headup, Ed. I bought this set yesterday and immediately passed it off to my mother since it's one of her favorite shows, so I haven't seen any of it yet. In the next day or two I'll look out for some of those video problems you mention, but I suppose someone else might get a chance to check their copies and respond before I can.

Can't answer this. I have to wait till December 25th to get the DVD in my hands. On its release date, I got it at Target and when I got home, I took one more look at it and put it away. I hope my set doesn't have that problem. But in my opinion, I think just having the episodes in full form from NBC days is good enough in any type of reception. I couldn't watch the originals on NBC because I wasn't born until 1989, and only saw the later episodes around 1992 in syndication; I forgot them. Can't wait until Christmas! I'm looking forward to this gift more than any other, especially because I picked it off the shelf myself.

You were not supposed to reply to this thread if you were not experiencing the same problems with the DVD. Ed wanted to know who else was experiencing problems with their DVD? So since you wasn;t you should have just skipped this topic. |

On the episode, "That Was No Lady", about halfway through the dialogue got out of sync. I'd see there mouth's move and the dialogue didn't match up. Did this happen on anyone else's?

but haven't watched it as of yet- am looking forward to seeing unedited episodes of this treasure.
I have noticed with other DVD sets, that a glitvh sometimes appears, but then I reverse it to see if it just happened on the spot, and it often does (meaning it's not a permanent glitch). Probably different from what's being discussed here, but just thought I'd throw that out as a possibility.

Everyone... keep your eyes and ears open. Maybe they will be recalled and replaced. Hang tight. I've only seen a few episodes, but I've had no glitches so far. |

Mine doesn't have any glitches that are noticeable when you watch it on normal play, but I noticed en a couple of episodes, if I pause the dvd or watch it on slow speed, a couple of the frames are a different color, sort of like someone turned up the brightness control on the TV. One episode I noticed this in was The Transplant, when they're at the restaurant table.
