Hm. Something is depressing me. I've ALWAYS wanted to be on Broadway, for the longest time... ever since I was little.
I don't have any theatre experience (on stage). I know exactly what I'm doing behind the stage as a tech crewie, but for onstage, I have nothing. I've been dancing forever, so I know with decent training that I wouldn't have a major problem with dancing. I've been told that I'm a decent actor. My problem is singing. I cannot sing worth a crap. You really have no idea . I was thinking of maybe taking singing lessons, but I'm already a sophmore in highschool. I'm wondering if it's too late? Plus, in college, what if I major in theatre arts or drama or something, and never make it big and am a starving actor in NY out on the streets, y'know? I don't want to end up with no job whatsoever.I don't know what to do. I'm just wondering if I should stick with my love of stage-crewing, or take up singing and possibly acting lessons and try for some community drama clubs or whatever. Thing is, I KNOW that if I had a decent voice, I'd have more confidence, which would soak up my stage fright. Advice? |

Well, knowing you, I'd try to get a beter voice (though I'm sure it's fine
) cos you seem like you'd be really comfortable on a stage. Seriously, Sutton Foster's first big show was Thoroughly Modern Millie... and look at how that turned out.

If you really be on Broadway, you should pursue it! If you want to have a better voice, then take lessons. It won't hurt to try
Good luck!

Aww Krynan!
The best advice I can give to you is this year or next year do the play for school, or join a local theatre group so you can get a sense of what its really like. If you really like it, then go for it! Wouldnt you rather try and fail (-.-) then to not try at all and wonder what if... ? ...

I say you should give it a shot. Trying it won't hurt anything. But I understand your hesitations, I'm giving all that advice, but I don't take my own. I've always had this thing for Broadway myself, and I can dance with proper training, I'm a good learner, and I'm a good singer...but acting is an issue...blah.
Go be an actress, gimme details, I'll live through ya ![]() Just a song for the road: "Once upon a time I was a shy young thing, Could barely walk and talk so much as dance and sing But let me hit that stage I wanna take my bow Cause mama I'm a big girl now"

![]() Thing is, nobody believes in me. I told my mother I wanted to take singing lessons and she laughed at me and my father rolled his eyes. I guess it's just too late to start.. I don't know. I'd do anything to be on Broadway. It's not even about being famous. I don't WANT to be famous... I just want to dance and sing on stage. |

Aww...I can't sing worth a **** either.
Can't dance either. All I'd be able to do is act, which I did in HS a lot. I really wish I could sing. I love to but damn... Good luck Karly...I'm sure it's never too late to take singing lessons. Especially now while a lot of crap hasn't affected your voice. |

Anyways, Karly in the 3...4...3...*thinks* 3 years I've been here and I've gotten to know you, you seem like you're determined, and I really think that you could make it out there. Don't listen to your parents, do what you want, if you or your parents won't pay for singing lessons join chorus at school or something. I think you can do it though. I believe in ya, and trust me, a lot of us here do. If you want it enough you can have it...you're a person with a lot of passion and spirit, I can tell that just from you're posts, go for it! |
