Default Six Week Gap Following "Tidings..."

According to the NBC episode guide at the official AD website, following the November 21st broadcast of "Tidings of Comfort and Joy" the next AD episode is not set to air until Sunday, January 2nd, 2005 - a gap of six weeks without episode. On November 28th NBC is airing that "A Christoms Carol: The Musical" with Kelsey Grammer but following that, who knows what is going to be broadcast.

During Season One, "Black and White" aired on November 17th, 2002, followed by a two week gap before the December 1st airing of "The Home Front," which in turn was followed by another week without a new episode. "Silent Night" aired on December 15th, then another two week's without a new episode, then two episodes in a row on January 5th and January 12th, 2003, followed by another two weeks without episodes.

With Season Two, "The Long Goodbye" aired on November 30th, 2003, followed by a four week gap covering the entire month of December. "The 7-10 Split" finally aired on January 4th, 2004. Up until now, it seems, that was the longest gap during the regular television season. Season Two, with fewer episodes, ended its season far earlier than Season One, but during the actual season, the longest gap was four weeks.

Now, however, it looks like we will be without AD on November 28th, December 5th, December 12th, December 19th, and December 26th. The tenth episode of Season Three will be airing on January 2nd, 2005. Six weeks away.

Ouch.

If they were ever going to move the show to another night, I think this would be a good opportunity. I heard that a Variety article mentioned that NBC may have the new Law & Order show as a mid-season replacement and pair it with the Law & Order that currently airs on Sunday.

Personally, I think Wednesdays at 8PM would be good for American Dreams. I think it could improve on what LAX is doing. Sure it would be up against Lost, but that would be better then Extreme Makeover: Home Edition and Cold Case and The Simpsons/Arrested Development.

I really don't think NBC will cancel the show without giving it a chance on another day and timeslot.

Some rumours I heard that only 13 episodes have been picked up so far, and that the back 9 hasn't been ordered yet. Also, the 13th episode will tie up some major storylines and that could be the series finale. I certainly hope that's not true.

I also have heard talk of another L&O series for NBC. Honestly, though, with the way the network has been losing viewers left and right on even its strong L&O franchise, I really do not think it needs another installment.

Wednesdays at 8:00PM could work. I imagine there is some overlap between AD fans and Lost fans, but not as much as there is with Extreme Makeover: Home Edition and the other Sunday night shows.

I do believe that someone posted here about the first 13 episodes being written and in production and NBC waiting until late 2004 to decide whether to pick up the rest of the 22 episode comittment. From what they have been reporting at their media website, NBC seems to be happy with the way AD has been doing.

Moving the show is risky. It might be more trouble than it is worth. But going six weeks without an episode is also risky. I can almost guarantee that the ratings will be noticeably lower come January 2005 after so many weeks without new episodes - and if NBC decides not to air repeats either...

If the show is cancelled midway through the season it will be a travesty. AD is quality television in the midst of utter rubbish.

Smile They

They bump these shows cause of the Holidays......My mom says its cause they aren't working during Holidays but all eppy's are filmed ahead.....Alot of shows are being bump due to Holidays......

This week The King Of Queens was bumped.....Next week One Tree Hill, The OC, and North Shore are all being bumped due to Holidays after this Sunday Ad is being bumped and then we wonder why ratings for all our shows drop.....

They bump shows for a long gap of time example Ad and another The OC and North Shore was held until Baseball ended.....I think one of the main reasons ratings drop with some shows is cause of this Bumping bull....

During the break people get into other things and loose interest in the older things.....

The 6 week gap will be annoying but its just something we have to deal with even though its such a pain.....Mel

I kind of figured that they would have a break after this episode, since they haven't had one so far this season. But, six weeks is a lot. I'm going to watch some of season 2 though, and re-watch all of the episodes of this season.

I'm hoping to get the Season 1 DVD for Christmas.....I would have gotten it with birthday money I received but it went back up to 70 something dollars.....

When it first came out in Target it was on sale for 50 something.....I almost bought it but my Brother said to wait and maybe it will go down more it went back up.....

I don't tape any eppy's unless I am going to miss it...So during the break I"ll be watching DVd's but at 9pm on Sunday I'll watch my other show Desperate Housewives its back on this Sunday after AD.....Mel

Maybe someday someone will explain to me how a network can "renew" and "commit" to a full season and then wait until later after 13 episodes to decide whether to do it or not.
Hmmmmmmmm.

A "familiy" show that has "quality" programming.......NOT on during the holiday season, when families are watching with family members. Does that make sense? Not to me. Nor my family.

Peace.

See you all in 2005, .......maybe?

thereare alot of timeslots where I dont really watch anything, I'm prett sure that nothing I care that much about has the 8 or 9 slot Mondays or Tuesdays

(The only shows I really care about are L&O, L&O SVU, Arrested Development, Lost, and Desperate Housewives, those are the ones I truly cant miss, I dont think I watch anything at all at 8 or 9 Mondays and Tuesdays, just reruns of L&O and Family Guy)

Too bad I cant watch American Dreams, it is very good

Man that really stinks. I hope that they don't drop AD after this year. It's the only thing I like to watch on Sundays.
