Does anyone remember the case about Paul Pollis? He is the one who claims that his wife disappeared while he was out shopping with his kids, but many other people make other claims about him actually being at home during the time. Plus, he cleaned the whole house before police investigated for possible murder. What do you think about this case, if you remember it?

Yes, I remember that one well. I do think the husband is guilty, although he may have had help. I remember he disappeared for a while soon after his wife went missing. He said he just needed to get away because of all the stares, and people accusing him. It makes you wonder what he really did while he was away. Also I remember there was a tiny spot of blood in the trunk, but too small to be tested. One thing though, they never really gave a motive for the husband to be guilty (no affairs, accusations of abuse, etc.). I would be interested to know others opinion on this case as well.

Is this the case where the husband claimed his wife had the flu and he left her home alone when he took the kids shopping?

Yes, I remember the sister going outside and seeing a set of footprints in the snow. When she followed them, they stopped at a shed that had a padlock on it. I think the little girl in the case was always afraid of black trash bags, she stated her mother was put inside of one.

Yes, I do believe that his wife had the flu when he claimed to take the kids out to go shopping. I don't remember the part about the daughter saying that they put her in the black garbage bag. I seem to remember her saying that they had to take all black garbage bags out of the house. Maybe someone else can clarify. Based on the information provided by UM, I do think that he killed his wife, but there doesn't seem to be enough evidence to support an arrest.

I remember this one. Paul Pollis seemed to be like he was hiding something. He was very creppy and ran away for 3 months leaving his children behind. I do believe he had to have help moving the wife's body since the segment said he weighed about 150 and his wife (OMG) weighed 300 pounds. So no way he could dispose of the body by himself unless he had a personal forklift. The mother seemed to have hatred towards paul even before the murder. She seemed like an inlaw you would not want to have. I don't mean to be mean but it looks like it was a sad murder in the trailer parkville. I hope they do solve the case.

i am 17 years old and i remember the story of the Pollis lady. Understand that Girard, Ohio is a very small town where everyone knows eachother. While the town is small in size, the majority of the people are middle class and live in nice houses. I live three streets down from where the Pollis's live. Earlier today i was in the old middle school and got caught up about the story of the Pollis family. In fact, i know the lead investigator of the case very well. Everyone believes he did it, but when you live in a town like this everyone keeps quiet. As far as the garbage bag situation, that is absolutely true. The girl lived with her grandparents when her father left and she told them that she saw her mothes face in the bag. Paul did not call the police until family members told him it was nescessary. Some believed his three month Hiatis was to finish taking care of the body. there is also a strong belief her body was either choped or grinded and thrown into the sewer. This wass the talk of the town and no one could believe it was true. What is scary is there are 3 or 4 more stories within the same decade that happened in this small town. The quiet wispers of a innocent small town corrupted by a few UNSOLVED mysteries and mafia involvement.id be interested in emailing anyone interested in hearing more about the Pollis family or this great town of Girard with a few good stories.

Thanks for that information. It seems like we've been running into quite a few people with personal involvement in the cases. I would be interested in hearing more. Is there an email address where I can reach you? Thanks.

The husband sounded a little suspicious to me. When asked about the shed on the segment he said something like "It's a shed, there are tools and lawn equipment stored there", but when his family asked him why it had a pad lock on it he became defensive. Plus the two sets of footprints in the snow around the shed and I think the daughter claimed the doors were not flush but had a bulge in them. Then the trace amount of blood found in his trunk was another clue. Someone in the segment also implied the little girl could have been coached into an act, but I am not sure.
How long did the husband wait until he contacted police? |
