According to the 11/21 issue of tvguide Ed O'Neill will be guest starring on 8SR in February. He will play Sagal's old college flame. an "Al Bundyesque" guy who "shows up assuming that they're going to pick up where they left off" says exec. producer John Peaslee. "But that's not what she has in mind"

While the episode won't go directly into MWC territory, Peaslee concedes that "it wouldn't be any fun unless you were recreating that relationship-without calling them Peg and Al"

It's good that Ed O'Neill is appearing in a one-shot guest appearance. Right after John Ritter passed away, there were rumors going around that Ed was going to become a series regular, and THAT wouldn't have worked at all....but having a one-time O'Neill-Segal reunion will be a nice thing to see....and could be VERY funny!

Guest Appearance Reunites Former "Married...with Children" stars O'Neill and Katey Sagal

Katey Sagal and Ed O'Neill, who starred together for many years as Peg and Al Bundy on the comedy classic, "Married... with Children," will reunite once again on "8 Simple Rules," which airs Fridays (8:00-8:30 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network.

The episode, which will shoot in mid-December and air in February, will focus on Cate (Ms. Sagal), who innocently decides to look up an old college sweetheart (O'Neill) for fun to see what has become of him. But the man takes it as a sign that romance is on the horizon and drops everything in his life to come and be with his "long-lost love."

"8 Simple Rules" stars Katey Sagal as Cate Hennessy, Kaley Cuoco as Bridget Hennessy, Amy Davidson as Kerry Hennessy, Martin Spanjers as Rory Hennessy, with James Garner as Jim and David Spade as C.J.

Tracy Gamble created the series. Judd Pillot & John Peaslee, James Widdoes, Tom Shadyac and Michael Bostick are executive producers. The series is based upon W. Bruce Cameron's bestselling book, "8 Simple Rules for Dating My Teenage Daughter." "8 Simple Rules," which premiered on September 17, 2002, is from Touchstone Television.
