Sad I sure do miss this show....

Hey everyone....its been a while since I've posted, but I just wanted to say this fall really honestly sucks without Becker. Man last year, even through loosing TF, and SG(Bob) it still wasn't that bad. CBS has really sunk low this season if you ask me. The only good comedy thats on is "Two and a half Men".

I wonder if Ted will ever do television again. I know he won't work for CBS ever again, after the way they treated him. Les...what a looser!

IT JUST SUCKS BECAUSE TELEVISION IS CHEAP NOW A DAYS, AND ALL THATS ON IS CRAP, THATS BEEN DONE SEVERAL TIMES!!!

Becker was orginal. Becker was real life. I related to it.

I sure do miss Becker...

Agreed, I've become a Becker fan after watching late night reruns here of the show on CBS New York. It used to be on at 3:07 am, now it's on at 1:37 am after The Late Show. Any fans here that need a Ted Danson fix should check out Curb Your Enthusiasm on HBO. The new season just started. It's on Sunday nights and reruns can often be seen on HBO Comedy. Ted has appeared in a few episodes as himself and his hair is all white on the show. Either he aged quickly or dyed his hair on Becker. I remember seeing him in some earlier Curb episodes where he and Larry (the main character) were involved in some kind of partnership to try and open a new restaurant in LA. He was also in an episode this season, I think the season opener, where Larry David gets a sandwich named after him but doesn't like the ingredients, so he meets with Ted Danson, on the set of some sitcom he's filming and asks him if he'll switch sandwiches with him on the local deli's menu, since Ted already has a sandwich named after him there. Ted at first agrees to the switch, but then changes his mind after hearing what's in the sandwich (something like whitefish and capers and some other stuff). I think Larry eventually does something for the deli owner and finally gets the Ted Danson sandwich changed to the Larry David heh, funny show.

Doesn't seem to be much activity around here anymore, but I'll chip in with my two cents anyway.

We've had the series over here in the UK for some time now. I'm sure we've cycled through at least once, but we're getting Season 5 at the moment. Don't recall when it first drew my eye but I've always tried to catch it, and Paramount Comedy seems to like it so we get plenty of reruns. I've never laughed at something so consistently (it helps that old Ted's still something of a heartthrob in this lass's humble opinion, even getting on in years as he is these days), and though it has its fair share of touchy-feely sentimentality, the generally edgy humour's a refreshing change from the rest of the blunt, sanitised pap we import.

Haven't seen all of the later seasons, but would generally have to agree that it jumped the shark after Reggie's bizarre departure. I have only a vague recollection of that season finale but remember thinking that throwing the two of them into bed together was rather sudden and quite possibly a creative mistake (though I can't imagine a handsomer couple). Didn't think there was much sexual attraction there in the first place, but it would have been interesting to see their relationship play out nonetheless. Reggie was a bit of a nonentity though, I must admit, floating about the diner doing the pathetic, directionless thing. I prefer her, but Becker's an immensely strong character and, written as she was, she just wasn't much of a foil. Chris is definitely a stronger presence and far more of a match, but her perky cheer lacks an edge and her and Becker's courtship needs some fire; having a hard time swallowing it so far. Sure, he's good-looking, but he's about as winning as a punch in the face -- what do these women see in him?

Yak, yak, yak. There, I've gone and driven off the stragglers. Still, good to find other fans of the programme, even if everyone's long since disappeared

P.S. His hair is dyed to the max; he's naturally as white as snow and has been for some years. Some kind of wash-in, wash-out mousse, I read.

I guess I am in the minority here, but I actually liked the show better when Chris joined the cast and Reggie left. But I think when Bob left the cast, the show started to faulter.

Bob's departure left a gaping hole in that show, in my estimation. He was freakin' hilarious. Stole every scene he was in.

I guess you are but I agree with you. It made more sense to me for Becker to end up with Chris than with Reggie, but it didn't make much sense for him to all of a sudden sleep with Reggie off camera after he already chose to be with Chris but I guess that was just the writers' way of creating some more conflict for at least one more season.

You are right about that, the way they wrote Reggie out of the show was kind of weird, which makes me think that it was a last minute decision.

Nancy Travis was originally signed for just 4 episodes, and Becker was originally going to end up with Reggie. However, something happened on the set with Terry Farrell, and the writers decided to write her out of the show. There is no doubt that the chemistry between Nancy Travis and Ted Danson made it easy to continue the show with Nancy Travis in place of Terry Farrell.
The sexual tension that Chris and Becker had was sort of the same sexual tension that Sam Malone and Diane had on Cheers.

Really? Anyone know what happened on the set with Terry Farrell? Contract dispute perhaps or maybe a personal problem with a producer, director, crew member?

I am not 100 percent sure on this, but from what I could gather, the Producers had it in for Terry Farrell, because of a contract dispute. Ted Danson got a raise before the start of season 4, so Terry Farrell was trying to get other cast members to hold out for more money, sort of like what the cast of Friends did, but unfortunately it back fired on her. I am sure Ted Danson being one of the producers and star of the series could have stepped in, and insist that she remain with the cast, but he chose to stay out of the dispute.

In interviews since her firing, she states that she does not know why she was fired. It came as a complete surprise to her, I guess the Producers never gave her an offical reason for her firing, but one can certainly bet that money had something to do with it.

Did anybody watch Ted Danson on Help Me Help You on ABC the last few months? Anyone record it? Not too bad, he played a therapist.
