Default Opening credits question???

Does anyone recognize the Rocketship ride in the opening credits? At first I thought it was from the original Disneyland, but now I don't think so. That particular type ride was at a number of old Amusement Parks, but here it seems to be going in the wrong direction. Just one of those things that is bugging me.

Hi bertfl..

It's funny that you should mention that. I too have wondered about that ride. I know it is not Disneyland or Pacific Ocean Park (POP) both popular amusment parks of the late 50's and 60's.

I imagine though that the clip is in there to be possibly represenative of those places during that time, if that makes any sense. If glanced at quickly, it could look like Disneyland.

I know I am probably wrong but it looks like some Worlds Fair or something, or maybe an amusement park in the east.

Hi Trish M

Yes a few East coast amusement parks had a ride like that. But, like almost all rides made in the USA it ran in the the other(counterclockwise) direction. For the most part only rides made in Eupore ran the direction shown in the opening clip. That is why it caught my eye. Guess we will have to wait to see who else remembers the 50's - 60's era.

I always wondered that too...My few guesses I repeat guesses are either The Worlds Fair in Queens,or Astroland Park or Disneyland or the boardwalks maybe on the Jersey Shore since they always vacationed there the Pryors that is.....

Cause they live in Pennsylvania but they are all just my guess......Mel

Wow, I never knew that. That is a very cool bit of information.

Yeah, I hope somebody is able to fill us in.

Well Astroland might be a good guess, but I was never there years ago. I was at the 1964 World's Fair in Queens and do not recall the ride. The 1938 World's Fair was also in Queens, but that was way before my time. As far as the NJ boardwalks of which I've think I've been on every one, I never recall seeing one. There was one in Riverview Park Pennswille NJ (now long defunct) and also one in Euclid Park Chicago (also defunct), but both ran in the other direction. Could they have put the film in flipped over? Could have been Disneyland in CA, but I was there in the mid 60's and don't recall it and Disney did have some Eupropean rides which always seem to run backwards. Guess we have a good triva question here!

Just for you information the reason most rides run the direction they do goes back to the Merry-Go-Round. In Europe one mounts a horse from the opposite side then they do in the USA, much like they drive on the other side.

Does anybody know where there is a clip of the opening credits pictures online?

Default Would the Fan Club Know?

Maybe someone in the Fan Club could suggest it as a question to the production team, or however creates the opening theme. Who would you direct this question to, the producer, or someone else?

Europeans on the continent do not drive on the opposite side. That's Britain.

Sorry, I should have said England not Europe. Thanks for the correction. Now if you only knew where that space ship ride was from.
