These two never held my interest at all. Esther was always hollering like a fool and Lamont was too square for me.

Grady and Esther. When Grady filled in for Fred, the writers gave him Fred's lines to insult Esther. Since Grady isn't funny, it didn't work.

Yea Esther and Lamont never had any funny lines with each other.

I agree, neither of these two characters were not remotely interesting unless they were fighting or interacting with Fred.
