This was a case that touched my heart. I looked for it in the list of shows you have on your site and I can not find it. Wich date did it originaly air. Also, I wrote to the doe network reguarding that case and they say they would profile a case like that if they had the propper info. I can find nothing online.
This case was about a girl found and never identified in lake pansoffkee,FL in 1970. The county sheriff named her "Little Miss Panasoffkee" in 1980 when he reopened the case. It is very sad to me this poor young woman had according to her autopsy had at least one child. So, that child grew up not knowing his or her mom.

I think I remember this case. You'd think by now they would have found out something with her having at least one child and all. Quite sad

i have this segment on dvd.
the investigators did age regression in the hope somebody would recognize her from when she was younger.
i believe the coroner said she had been strangled.

Believe it or not, I was the one who saw the show and decided to send her case into the Doe Network website! I didn't really think anything of it until a few months later when the case had finally been approved and posted.

This case originally aired on NBC on October 14, 1992. Lifetime recently aired that episode on Monday, March 20, 2006.

Just watch this case on youtube. It pains me to say this but she was probably a hooker or a drug addict or both and she was away from family for years and because of that her identity will never be solved.

I just can't see a hooker having that good of dental work. Prostitutes don't exactly have good health care plans or the financial means to care for themselves that well.

I agree with you, here. But it's curious that NO ONE stepped forward, with all the press it's seemed to have gotten, and said "Hey, this could be my daughter/sister/friend/cousin," or whatever.

It's possible that she had all the dental work done before she got into a lifestyle that caused her to end up where she was found.

Also possible that she as living in a bad situation, someone got her out of it, she had the work done and then she ended up as a runaway.

Also, if she had hitched rides she could have ended up thousands of miles from where she originally came from. Back then, it was common for runaways to hitch hike.

I've always wondered about her and would like to see this one solved too.

This is what I'm thinking. Maybe she got far away from family and without the technology we have today (internet and different computer programs for keeping track of people, like AFIS), her family couldn't track her down. Maybe she had no living family and no one she knew watched UM back then. I wish her DNA had been entered into the DNA database for comparisons in the future, maybe a distant relative or her own child.

Always wondered why LE was never able to identify this woman after all these years. You would think there would be SOMEONE out there who knew of a relative who had that unique ankle surgery who was also a runaway. It's sad that to this day her identity is still unknown.

She is the talk of the town in Bushnell – a mystery woman murdered back in 1971.

Now, thanks to some amazing forensic work by scientists at both USF and The University of Florida, we now know plenty about this missing woman and where she may have come from.

Sumter County Sheriff's deputies think she may have been in Tarpon Springs for the Epiphany celebration, which back then had an estimated 50,000 to 60,000 in attendance.

Her face has beguiled detectives for more than 40 years. It's a cold case that's suddenly getting a lot hotter, thanks to new digital recreations by Dr. Erin Kimmerle with USF's anthropology department and new analysis of her hair and teeth by Dr. George Kamenov at The University of Florida.

"On the victim, when she was discovered, on the victim's left wrist, she was wearing a 17-jewel Baylor watch," said Detective Darren Norris. "Facial features are very strong. She does have the long, dark hair, some more jewelry that she did have on, you can see here, there's a very thin, gold chain that she had on at the time of her death. And also on her left ring finger she did have a gold ring with a clear stone."

Kimmerle re-created the woman's plaid pants and green and white floral shawl – the entire outfit – from poor-quality autopsy photos.

Sumter County captain Kevin Hofecker led us back to where the body was found under a span called the Lake Panasoffkee Bridge along I-75.

"The state, nor the county, was as populated as it is now," said Hofecker. "Certainly you can only imagine how isolated and desolate it was then."

Two hitchhikers found her body underneath the bridge back in 1971. Investigators suspect she'd been in the water at least 30 days. She'd been strangled with a belt that was wrapped tightly around her neck.

"She had a belt, a man's belt, wrapped around her neck," said Norris, who is the lead detective on this case.

He said the woman got the name "Little Miss Lake Panasoffkee" in 1986 from then-sheriff James Adams.

The victim's teeth were examined by the Geological Sciences Department at the University of Florida, detectives said. The conclusion of the analysis determined that the victim is possibly of Greek descent and most probably had come to the United States 10 to 12 months before her death.
Further testing determined the victim's teeth contained a high level of lead, which may link her to the small town of Lavrion, located approximately 60 miles southeast of Athens, Greece. Lavrion is known for its high level of lead contamination associated with mining operations in the region, detectives said.
Because of its large Greek community, detectives traveled to Pinellas County on Friday to hand out 6,000 fliers in Tarpon Springs with the woman's image and description.
"There's got to be a grieving family somewhere, and that's what we're trying to find," Det. Darren Norris told Fox 13 News of Tampa Bay.

This case was presented recently on a Greek TV-Show investigating missing persons cases. A woman called and said she identified this Jane Doe as a former classmate and friend. They were attending a prep school for legal migrants, located in Kifisia (suburb in Athens, Greece), teaching home economics and preparing the students to be sent off to the USA and Australia with a 2 year contract for work. This school was funded by the International Organization for Migration. The woman that called said that her classmate was called Konstantina and had a brother serving in the Navy near Lavrio.
