Sad I bought Levert's Rope A Dope Style at a thrift store

I bought a CD today, Levert's Rope A Dope Style at a thrift store. The only reason that I even bought it was for profit because Spec's buys used CD's. And since the thrift store sells CD's for way less than most thrift stores, I figured, "Why don't I make some profit on this buy selling it to Spec's?" Something told me that I should just leave and not get the CD, but I got a little greedy and bought the CD to make some profit. When I got to Spec's to sell the CD, the cashier told me that it wasn't worth anything. I was shocked! I said, "Are you sure it's not worth anything? Weren't they a big thing back in the day?" And she said, "Well, it's probably worth a penny". I would have returned it back to the thrift store, but the thrift store doesn't refund or exchange merchandise. I don't even like Levert! I don't want to throw it in the garbage, so what is the chance that someone will buy it from me?

why are you so freaking greedy? I bet you're one of those *******s who'll find X-Files seasons on DVD for $15 at a thrift store and resell them on ebay for $50. Some of us like the better deals. You're no better than a scalper.

Perhaps you should start one thread for all of these thrift store purchases.

That's funny. I could have told you that going in you wouldn't make any profit on that. It's not like there's some great demand for an old Levert cd, no offense. The best thing you can do is hold on to it, and if you have a few other old cds you want to get rid of, package them together as a "lot" and try to sell them all together on ebay. You'd be better off trying to sell 3 or 4 cds combined for a few bucks than trying to sell one for a few pennies.

Maybe the reason that something was telling you not to buy the CD and just leave the thrift store was because the CD wasn't worth anything.

Mary Charle how can you say Levert's cd isn't worth buying when you've never heard it? Levert has made a lot of good songs. What do you know about r&b music when all you do is listen to pop songs & rock & roll songs?

Rope A Dope Style album isn't by Gerald Levert Full House. It's by Levert which Gerald was a part of the group. I heard that Levert was gettin back together for a reunion album but nothin has happened yet. I really like their Just Coolin album & the song Baby I'm Ready. Levert is from my hometown Cleveland, Ohio. I've met Gerald & Sean in person. I was at the Salvation Army yesterday & i saw Al Jarreau's Breakin Away album, Rockwell's Somebody's Watching Me album, The Commodores Nightshift album, Midnight Star's No Parking On The Dance Floor album, Diana Ross's Swept Away album. All these albums costs $2. I also saw Ready For The World's Long Time Coming tape. I didn't know the thrift store sold old albums & tapes. They also sell old movies on videotape. They have nice furniture too. I saw people yesterday at the thrift store who look like they wouldn't shop at a thrift store for clothes. My grandmother always used to go to the thrift store but i would be embarassed to shop there.

I was wrong. LeVert was the name of the group featuring Gerald LeVert. Isiahthomas, I actually the have the album "Breakin' Away" by Al Jarreau on vinyl. It featues the song "We're In This Love Together" and "Teach Me Tonight". Great album.

Breakin Away is a great album by Al Jarreau. I also like the songs My Old Friend, Roof Garden, Breakin Away on that album. I like his This Time, Fly, High Crime, Heart's Horizon albums also.

Oh poor baby. You bought a cheap CD at a thrift store so that you could get profit off it at a music store and then found out it wasn't worth anything. So now your stuck with a CD that you don't like or want. I know a little something that people often do when they want money. It is called a J-O-B. You should try it. You made a couple of mistakes in this. First one: You went against your instinct telling you not to buy the CD. Next mistake: You bought a CD you don't even like. You should have bought a CD that you like, so if it wasn't worth anything, at least you'd enjoy the CD. Third mistake: You bought the CD blindly without knowing if it was worth anything. You didn't use the internet, ask around, or call the music store to find out it's worth. You should have done this way before buying the CD. Fourth mistake. You bought a CD that you cannot return or exchange and you bought it knowing this. It would have been better if they had a return/exchange policy, but they didn't. Fifth mistake,(Or consequence) you are now stuck with a CD that you don't want and it could be less likely that you won't be able to sell it on the street, becausre that group is outdated for these times.

If there was a Record Exchange store where Janice lives, she could trade in that Levert cd for money or another cd. They have Record Exchange stores in Cleveland, Ohio cause i've been to them a lot to trade cd's & tapes. They have a couple of Record Exchange stores in Maryland.

Default Here Janice, what to do.....

You should buy ONLY the artist's highest selling albums and buy the cheapest copy of it. Like, you should buy a CD that is around 1 or two dollars, and when you go to Spec's, you will make profit. Like, Janet Jackson's Janet is worth 4.00 and Michael Jackson's Thriller is worth 5.00. Usher's Confessions is worth 6.25, but I doubt you will find it at a thrift store since it is relatively new. B2k's Pandemonium is worth 2.25. Or, what you can do is go to a flea market and buy CD's for 2.50 cents that are unscratched and new, like Confessions by Usher. Then, you go to the Specs and get almost 4.00 in profit. OR, you can go to the thrift store and buy old records for a dollar and then sell them to record stores and get profit on them. Hope this helps!
