I just read in my local newspaper that a man has just been sentenced to 195 years in prison for a series of assualts on lone female mall store clerks. I vaguely seem to recall a story like this once on Unsolved Mysteries. Is this the same case? The man's name is James D. Perry and the article states that:
"Authorities had hunted for years for an assailant who targeted female mall workers in south-central Wisconsin, accosting them in their stores as they worked alone..." before finally catching him. Maybe it's not the same case, but at least this guy will never be on the streets again. http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories...STO&SECTION=US |

As of now, this case doesn't sound familiar to me. However, UM did, in fact, feature at least one case that was similar.
In 1990, UM aired a segment about an unknown man who committed a series of rapes in the Boston area. These crimes occurred in December of 1989. One of the rapes occurred at a clinic, and some others in shopping centers. The segment had interviews of two young women who were both assaulted at a woman's clothing store where they worked. Their voices were altered and their faces were obscured on film in order to protect their anonymity. Even though I have lived in Massachusetts for all my life, I really didn't know about the case until it was shown on UM. When I last saw that segment, the case was unsolved. But I will try to find it somewhere on the Internet and see if there were ever any further developments. |

You know, this actually sounds a bit more like the I-70 killer, the guy who went to all those shopping malls and just shot the workers and left. That was one of the scariest UM segments ever. I'm not sure if the I-70 kiler was in Wisconsin, though.

I might be confusing it with one of those other cases. But it sure does sound familiar.

I am, however, really greatful that the rapist was caught. I live in the area where he was attacking women. I'm always weary of dark parking lots, but refuse to live in fear. Knowing that he's behind bars is definitely a relief. |
