Side Characters

When this show first started there were officially 5 regulars. Shirley wasn't one of them, which makes me wonder if they were just trying her out to see how she would fit into the show. Also in the pilot there is a cop character who seemed like he was also being tried out as a potential regular. Rob and the kid who was the news reporter also seemed like they were on trial, but in the end only Shirley really caught on big and was made a full-time player which is good because she deserved it.

If the show had gone into a 4th year I don't think any of the later side characters like Snake or the Earls had any business being regulars (I would have removed all 3 of them and given Raj put a couple college aged girls on the show).

I agree with your opinion on the side charaters and Shirley!! She was a riot!!!

There was also Bill Thomas (Raj and Dee's father) who appeared in quite a few eps. in the first season and Miss Collins who appeared most frequently in the second season.
