Post Mistakes noticed in "Kitty Kary-All is Missing"

Watching, Kitty Kary All is Missing" last night made me realize some minor problems. In one scene, Cindy states that Carol got her the blue elephant from Africa. Then later at Driscoll's toy store, there he is, the elephant, for sale. Also, when Bobby loses his kazoo and accuses Cindy of taking it, Mike comes in and calms them down. Then Carol walks in and says, something like, "we searched the house again, no doll, no kazoo." How would she have known the kazoo was missing. She just walked into the room.

Maybe Mike told Carol about the kazoo in between scenes.

You know, that Africa comment has always baffled me. When the heck did Carol have time to run off to Africa, and why? And who watched the girls while she was there? Very out of character.

I've decided that the toy is probably called something like "Jumbo, the African Elephant", and that's why Cindy says it's from Africa when Bobby asks her about it.

No there were no in between scenes, it was one full scene, Tiger took the kazoo, Bobby blamed Cindy, Mike came in calmed them down, Carol came in with the news. (Cut to next scene)

Hmmm...maybe Carol was in the kitchen when Bobby, Cindy, and Mike were arguing about the kazoo. After overhearing the problem (they were speaking pretty loudly), she conducted a quick search of the house in a vain attempt to locate the missing toys and settle the argument. Must have been a quick search, though, since she was done before the end of the scene. Kidding, of course -- the writers blew it here.

Unless Carol is psychic.

Dear “Brady Bunch” Fans:

You know children fantasizing sometimes. I believe Cindy Brady was fantasizing about her blue elephant. Just a thought!

I am not sure about the Carol Brady question.

I think the N@N version edited out the scene that explains how Carol knew about the missing kazoo and Cindy's doll. Its weird to watch because Carol just appears out of nowhere and says "I've just searched the house; no doll and no kazoo".

Networks are real funny about editing. The TBS version or local syndicated version may have that missing scene that N@N's version edited out which establishes Carol's knowing to search for the kazoo. She knew about the doll from the earlier scene at the start where Cindy points to Bobby and says "He took my doll!" (Tiger did of course). But how did she know about the kazoo?

I'll bet an older TBS tape of the episode might have the answer

Or Carol went to hang out with Chuck Cunningham right before the "No doll, no kazoo" bit

I think that it was established that there was no cut or in-between scene. (Again, there was no room: Mike comes in, finds out about the kazoo, talks with the kids, then Carol comes in and says she can't find the doll or kazoo, no room for edits like that).

Yup, there is no cut. I have the episode uncut on video, and the scene plays out exactly as described in an above posting.

Now that I remember it, the 1st post was right. That is a weird scene isn't it? Its like Carol comes out of nowhere and says "I couldn't find the kazoo". I have a local showing of BB on tape that has that same anamoly and its just like it said.

Maybe carol jokingly told Cindy it was from Africa and Cindy, being Cindy, believed her.

But it is also possible that toy was in storage for a while and had just recently resurfaced. The pilot seems to suggest that Carol and the girls had been living with the grandparents for a while so it could be she went off to Africa by herself and left the girls with them.

Damn, this thread is 7 years old.

I seen the BB when it debuted and watched it during syndication many many times, but I can't recall if during its first run, if there was a small scene where Carol knew abt the kazoo. I did catch that supposed error when it was in syndication and could not for the life of me recall if there was any editing done, which would explain how Carol knew abt the kazoo.

If I remember correctly, Carol searched for the kazoo in Africa while she was there buying the elephant.

Of course now, we can tack another year onto THAT!

It's kind of strange looking at the starting date of this thread (October 2001). Any time I see a date before 9/11/01, I think about how different life was back then, for everyone.
