Post Plants and the cold weather...

Anybody lost any plants recently to the cold weather? Here its supposed to near freezing for the first time this season, and could have scattered frost.

The weather has been so nice that many of us still have summer plants/flowers growing, including some tropicals, and I'm not sure how they're going to fare over the coming days...

*crosses fingers*

Anybody else have similar experiences, ect?

All the plants in the backyard here died a couple weeks ago.

It was about a month ago, but some of my dad's tomato plants died because of the cold weather. We had this vent running from the dryer to the outside where the tomato plants were in this little greenhouse made of plastic and held together by stapeling the plastic to wood and when the dryer wasn't on we would hook it up to this vent running from the furnace. It took some work to finally get it to stand properly. We finished that greenhouse for the tomatoes sometimes back in late September or so.
For the first while it was falling down and it was very fustrating. Well, my dad is drying some clothes one night last month and I'm already asleep and he forgets to put the vent back onto the furnace so the plants aren't getting any heat so he wakes up the next morning and all his tomato plants are frozen and dead.

He had been so proud of his tomato plants. He was mourning them for quite some time afterwards.

Some of the tender vegetation was taken out last night here. Got down to 35 with widespread frost. Coldest morning of the season so far. Not going to be quite as cold for the next few days but could be near or below freezing in about 6-7 days.

Mid to late fall and I have a love/hate relationship. I love the change that fall and winter bring, but I hate saying goodbye to the plants and blooms until next spring. I've been around gardening all my life, and my seasonal job at a plant nursery I worked at ended in August. That's another resentment I have towards the fall season.

Well, looks like everything weathered it out OK... the temp made it down to 32.7 but dew had already formed when the temp was in the high-30's...perhaps this offered some protection, as no frost formed.
