Exclamation I used to date Scott Valentine

I just found out the funniest thing!First of all, in high school, I went out with this guy named Scott for 2 months. He was nice but it didn't end well.

Anyway I was talking to my sister and joking that the only famous person to graduate from our high school(Saratoga Springs,NY) was David Hyde Pierce (Frasier) and she said "What about Scott Valentine?" I'm thinking, "My old boyfriend isn't famous."

I never realized that my Scott was the same Scott that was Nick(?), Mallory's boyfriend on Family Ties.Duh! Last I heard my Scott was in community college in upstate NY.

Now, I have to find an address to write to him. Just curious if he remembers me. He may not answer. I broke up with him and made him cry. LOL

Hi,

The same person posted the exact same message on the message board of the Family Ties Home Page, located at http://familyties.virtualave.net/MessageBoard. I have already replied to the message there, but in case you don´t check that board regularly, here is a copy of my reply:

-----
Hi Janni,

Thanks for posting on the board.

Finding a direct address to Scott Valentine is probably not easy. But you can write to him c/o Paramount (the production company). According to my information, Paramount should forward letters to the cast members of Family Ties (even though it was over 10 years since the show was canceled...).

On the Addresses page of the Family Ties Home Page, you can find the postal address to Paramount. Just write "Scott Valentine, c/o Paramount, etc."...

Good luck, and please let me know if you have any success in reaching Scott Valentine!

Sincerely,

Daniel Hofverberg

Scott Valentine's Old Girlfriend

I just noticed that this thread started in 2000. Wow, the world was a lot different back then. Seems like ancient history in a lot of ways.

Wonder if she ever caught up with Scott? Wonder what he was like when she dated him? Be interesting to hear, since he played such an...um... eccentric (for lack of a better term) and stereotypical character on F.T..

Actually I find the original post suspicious. How would she have not recognized Scott on Family Ties? He wouldn't have changed in looks that much - heck, you can still recognize him to this day as being Scott Valentine. I'm sure there are plenty of guys with that name.

Just odd that they would sign up on different boards just to post that and then never post again.

Oh yeah! I JUST remembered I dated a Brad Pitt in highschool and broke his heart....he was blonde, blue-eyed....ha! I bet he doesn't even remember me...... BECAUSE IT'S B.S.!!!

lol, I actually wondered if Scott Valentine was, in fact, his real name, but it looks like it was.

According to Wiki, he was born in 1958, which would have made him about 27 when he started his run on Family Ties. That would have been about 10 years after the original poster supposedly dated him... If that poster would have stayed around (or kept in touch with) her home town, then it doesn't really seem possible that she wouldn't have at least heard about him getting that part.

Prob the only way that really could have happened (the original poster not knowing about Scott/Nick) would be if she moved from her home town and just lost touch with everyone over the next few years...That happens sometimes, but it's probably pretty rare.... plus, she would have to never have seen Family Ties during his run....AND would have never seen even a commercial for the "Art of Being Nick" (now, that's possible).

Yeah, probably a bogus story. and the poster never returned, just those two posts from 9 years ago.

Exactly! She'd basically would have had to have lived in a opaque bubble during the 80s not to have heard, seen or make the connection to Scott.

We DO get some wild ones here don't we?

You guys have probably never heard of her, but I went to school with a girl named Camilla Gormley. She sang in choir and chorus, was also a soloist and acted in all the school plays.

About 10 years ago a talk show in Canada appeared and it "starred" a Camilla Scott. This woman looked a LOT like the Camilla I went to school with, but was no longer chubby or the "nerd" she had been. This is before I was internet savvy, but I was able to track down that it was definitely the girl I went to school with - and this is with a name change even, but the loss of easily 50 lbs. of weight. She has gone on to do movies and shows (Alfred Hitchcock) and musical theatre (including Broadway).

Again, to ask how to track them down is weird too - wouldn't they be the best to know if they dated the person? Yeah, I figure it's a tall tale....

In the original post, that last line about having "made him cry" was going over the top. In effect she's saying she was so desirable that even after a very limited time of dating she would cause such pain. It's a bogus account, I think.
