help remembering a case

Hi All,

First time posting. I'm trying to get more information about a segment I've seen more than once. I only recall a few details, though. Does this ring a bell with anyone...

An African-American woman was stopping by a hair salon late in the evening (I think it was dark and I don't remember what she was doing there). It turned out that a caucasion woman who worked at the salon had been murdered, and the African-American female witness physically ran into the (I believe caucasion) murderer outside of the salon!

Sadly, that's all I recall. I had no luck finding posts on this case. Does anyone remember the segment I so poorly described?

The victim's name was Dana Satterfield. The murder took place in the summer of 1995. The suspected killer was, in fact, described as caucasion.

Understandably, Satterfield's ex-husband was a person of interest, but was ruled out, in part because the description of the man seen fleeing the crime scene was inconsistent with that of the ex. There was speculation that the killing was a professional hit, but that theory was weakened by the brutal nature of Dana's murder.

Sadly, Dana Satterfield's murder remains a cold case. But don't give up hope that it could one day be solved. I mean, we've seen resolutions to tougher cases than this.

Thank you very much for the prompt response! I was able to find the other posts with the information you provided.

Weird thing is, I share the same surname as the victim. Strange coincidence - must have stuck in my mind for that reason.

So sad that there has been no resolution to date.

I know this case got solved, but does anyone know the details of the case? I missed the FF episode on trutv and it's been bugging me. Thanks.

Hmm lets see if I can remember. Jonathan Vick's friend had suspected him from the beginning. He was riding with him the night of the murder and he said Vick told his friend he was going to go see Satterfield. He apparently had a crush on her. After the murder Vick threatened his friend to not say anything to anyone about their conversation that night. Apparently Vick had a vehicle similar to one seen in the area that night. Police checked it out and interviewed them. In fact they showed a newspaper clipping of his mother standing by the truck and they had attached a homemade sign on the back basically telling people not to turn them into police that it had already been checked out and cleared. I believe the friend may have even went to the police initially but he refused to give his name so without him willing to testify it pretty much tied the police's hands. Years later the friend sees Dana's daughter all grown up and he again thinks back to Vick and the fact that he probably committed this crime. The friend finally decides to come forward again to talk to the police and to be identified and dna is matched to Vick. The scene of Vick at his sentencing is infuriating to me. He's standing there sobbing saying that Dana still didn't get justice because her killer is still out there. He's also a suspect in two other women's disappearances. One of them was his ex-fiancee and the other the ex-fiancee's friend.
