Default AMC (Early 90s)

My favorite era for AMC was the early 90s --- it really was on fire during that time. I loved the Janet story. Remember when she trapped Natalie in the well?

Does anyone have tapes from this era? I would LOVE to have any! Please let me know!

Thanks!

That was a great time for AMC. I agree, when Janet had Natalie trapped in the well while she was busy in bed with Trevor - now that was some good stuff!! lol That storyline seemed to drag on forever even though it was just a couple of months.
The best early 90's storyline by far was the whole "Who killed Will Cortlandt" storyline, easily one of the best murder mysteries in soap history. 13 suspects & no one would have ever guessed it would be Janet, since she didn't have anything to do with Will. The scene where they're walking Hayley out of Will's apartment & she looks down at his body and says "I didn't mean to kill him" with that distant look on her face would give anyone the chills.

I loved All My Children back then. Janet From Another Planet. The best part for me was when Trevor and Janet were about to get married and the dog ran in an jumped on Janet and exposed who she really was. I loved that storyline. Whatever happened to Uncle Porkchop?

Actually, I think it was longer than that. Natalie was in the well for a few months, and then Dimitri saved her and kept her a secret. Later everyone found out, but Natalie was conflicted on whether or not to stay with Dimitri or go back to Trevor. The storyline started in early 1991 and didn't end until 1992. It did go on for along time, but it was so good! I loved the actress that played Natalie and Janet (Kate Collins). She was so pretty. It was funny when Janet first came on --- all fat with that black hair and thick glasses! LMAO!

Janet was sent to prison for her many crimes, but returned in 1994 with a new face. The story was written where the character had radical plastic surgery on her face. In reality, there was new actress playing her (Robin Mattson).

Trevor and Janet (along with their kids Tim and Amanda) left town in 2000. Tim was recasted for a short period of time in 2002, but he sucked...

Early 90s AMC seems so....GOOOOOOOOD! I started watching in 2001, so I really missed out. I've only seen one episode from the period (Mona's funeral from 1994).

I have that episode on tape That's when I was still taping every episode. 1992 was a stellar year for AMC.

You'd tape every episode of All My Children?? Actually, I might've taped an episode or two too. If I was home watching at the time, I would tape just portions of it, like whatever storyline/character I was interested in. Say for example, something involving Hayley and Terrance I'd record but something with Opal and Palmer, I'd pause the tape. What can I say, that's how I used to do it. Hell if I know where those tapes are now.

Sad, but true Vash My mother started taping episodes of AMC when we got our first VCR around 1978 & she taped them every day until the late 80's & that when I took over lol I taped them on a regular basis until about 1999 or 2000, when I just became an occasional viewer. Only a few times did we tape over another tape & I've got all the tapes stored away in boxes in the attic of my house. My mother was going to throw them out, so I went to her house & brought them all over to my place because I invested too much time & money into those tapes over the years to have them thrown away lol I have the complete episodes with commercials because I was never at home when AMC came on. Some of the tapes are starting to age a little. AMC has lost its steam for me in the last 5 years or so - at least compared to the old days. I've been watching since the late 70's. I still catch bits & pieces of it on SoapNet these days. What's even more sad, is that AMC isn't the only soap I taped liked this for years - I also recorded my favorite soap Another World

Okay so according to my estimates, if you've been recording since 1978, you have approximately 4 billion tapes of All My Children. I couldn't imagine doing that. I never had the discipline to do that with a weekly series, AMC comes on five times a week! You talk about investing time and money, I bet there's some fanatic out there who would pay you for your tapes. That's cool that you can watch all those old episodes any time you want, assuming you have them nicely catalogued. Crazy, but cool.

You were close, its about 5 billion tapes That's just the AMC tapes too lol I used to tape EVERYTHING on TV until about 4 or 5 years ago when I got tired of fooling with it. I could fill up a house with my tapes. Too bad VHS's have gone out of style lol I actually catalogued them for a while & after a while I got too lazy to label them I have actually only watched a few of the episodes over again, because the show moves so fast that I would get behind on the current episodes (when I was still watching regularly). I bet I could make a pretty penny on those tapes, but I'll probably always hold on to them - I'm proud of my accomplishments

If you ever got a dvd recorder, you could transfer the episodes to discs to keep for yourself (space saver) and then sell off your tapes ($$$).

I thought I was the only one who'd tape stuff from tv, though like I said earlier, I'd tape portions rather than complete episodes. I just never had that mindset. Knowing what I know now, with tape trading and all, I wish I had.

If I had your tapes, I'd definitely go back and watch all that old stuff, I miss Dixie and Terrance and Janet from another planet and everyone else. You've got some good stuff there.

If I could, I'd buy every episode from 1978 to 1995 LOL

I wish I had the time and money to tape every AMC episode I watch. I only have like four or five eps on tape, and all of those are from 2003-now.
