Talking memory loss joke (got this in an email)

An elderly couple were seeing their doctor because they were concerned about the memory loss they were both experiencing. The doctor reassured them that a certain degree of memory loss was not unusual at their age,and they could cope better if they started to write down whatever they intended to do.

The old couple went home feeling more comfortable about their situation. That evening,as they were seated watching the t.v.,the elderly woman asked her husband if he would please get her a dish of ice cream. As he was about to leave the living room,
the old lady said,"Oh, maybe you should write that down so that you don't forget."

The old man laughed and said, "Well,I won't forget something as simple as a dish of ice cream!"

"All right", agreed the woman,"And while you're at it,could you please put some strawberries on the ice cream. Now you're going to forget that,so you had better write it down."

The old man, rather irritably, said,"No,I won't forget! A dish of ice
cream with strawberries on top."

"Fine",said the elderly wife,"But I also want some whipped cream over it all. Now you're sure to forget that, so please don't be
stubborn.......write it down."

Quite annoyed by this time, the elderly husband said, "For heaven's sake,I'll remember it! A dish of ice cream with strawberries, and whipped cream on top!"

Off he went to the kitchen, grumbling to himself, and the old woman heard him clattering about there, opening and closing drawers. She became quite engrossed in her t.v. program for the next 15 minutes or so, not even noticing the sounds coming from the kitchen until her husband suddenly appeared in the door of the living room with a tray in his hands. She took one look at the plate of bacon and eggs, rolled her eyes in
exasperation, and said, scornfully," See ? You forgot the toast!"
