Default Donating blood

I'm donating blood on Thursday and frankly, I'm scared to death. I hate needles, I hate blood, I hate veins....I really don't know why I'm doing it. But I am.

Has anyone else donated blood before? How is it?

I had blood taken for another reason but it really doesn't hurt any more than a shot.

Who's to think about?

And they pull me behind, as I let off the pedal.
Why should I divide what feels so right?
Is this where I want to lay?

But when you donate blood, don't they take a lot more than when you just have tests done?

I hate getting shots, but getting blood taken out is fine. When I had to get the IV for my teeth it took 25 min. to find the vein and I was fine.

Ugh I remember in 11th grade they were doing a blood donor at school and I signed up. I got scared beyond belief when they had to ***** my finger to check for iron. I started to get all teary eyed and left. Finally I felt bad and decided to go back, they pricked my finger and my iron was too low.

I'm the most paranoid...freak when it comes to those things, and I got blood taken a little while ago for some reason or another, and it wasn't that bad. I was nervous, but you usually work yourself up more than you need to. They had a drive at my school last month, but I wasn't old enough for it yet...but don't they give you lots of sugar and stuff afterwords or something? I don't know...something like that.

I wanted to donate my blood, but they won't let me. I was told people who've lived in the UK and/or South America aren't allowed to participate because of potential diseases you may carry. Sucks for them, because I have good blood.

yeah they do, it takes about 5-10 seconds when you donate. my grandmother took me when she donated. I was just getting my blood type tested during a physical exam so they hardly took any.

I hate needles, but I love getting blood taken for some reason. I have a strange preoccupation with blood. Don't ask. I'm strange like that.

It's fine. They just asked my brother to squeeze a tennis ball to get the blood flowing but very slowly. Then they make you have a cup of juice or soemthing and lay down.
