Default My Ideas for a "Taxi" Reunion

Where They Are Now: (Not supposed to be funny look, but what I really think they did with their lives.)

Alex Rieger is still be a cab driver. He finally found happiness in 1989 when he married Amanda Cutler (someone I just made up for this reunion). Alex and Amanda have decided not to have kids.

Louie DePalma is still the dispatcher. Now he's happily married to Judy, the once blind girl from the fifth season. They were married in 1984 and have too kids - Julie DePalma (born in 1986) and Aaron Latka DePalma (born in 1988). Latka was named after the foreign mechanic who died in 1984, following an illness. Louie had lightened up some over the years, but at work he remains the same Louie that we all love to hate.

Elaine Nardo has been out of the cab business since the early 1990's. She still, however works part-time at the Art Gallery. She's married to Arnie and her kids Jason and Jennifer have left her for college life. Despite no longer working at the garage, she still keeps in touch with Alex, Tony and Jim.

Tony Banta has become the manager to a successful boxer. He is married to Vicki, who appeared in season five. Tony and Vicki have a son together. Tony is no longer a cab driver, but often goes to the garage to visit (and get advice from) his friend Alex.

Jim Ignatowski still owns "Jim's Mario's". He quit driving a cab in 1987. Iggy remains single but he is also very happy with his life. Since he runs the bar next to the garage, he is able to see Alex, Louie and Simka all the time.

John Burns is still married to Suzanne and doing what he always wanted to do - he's a forrest ranger. John and Suzanne have two sons and a daughter. John left the cab company in 1979, after only a year on the job. He lost touch with his former co-workers but still remembers them fondly.

Bobby Wheeler has become a successful actor. He co-starred in a two season sitcom in 1986. When that was over, he did a five episode drama series. In 1993 his big break would come when he was cast in the lead role for a medical drama. It still is on today, and he remains in the cast. He didn't forget his friends at the garage. Although he hasn't seen many of them in years, he writes to them and plans on having a reunion. It, of course happens for this special.

Simka Dahblitz/Gravas has remained single after losing her one true love, Latka in 1984. Before Latka's death, Simka found out she was pregnant. Their son was born two months after Latka's death. Upset over his death, Simka went back to their country for a short time, looking for someone similar to Latka. She soon discovered it was wrong and came back to America. Looking for a job, she was hired at the Sunshine Cab Company as a driver, where she still works.

**
Bobby gets an ABC special for a night. He has decided to take advantage of this chance. He calls up his former co-workers and decides to have a reunion on the air. The whole gang get together and tell the world about their great times together as cab drivers. We see them before, during and after the fictional show.

Some lines from the special.

John Burns: (to the audience) You know, after I left the garage, I figured everybody forgot about me. They never came to visit me anymore, they never called. It was like I never existed. I'm glad that Bobby has invited me to come here today. It shows that he hasn't forgotten about me.

John Burns: I'm mostly surprised to learn that Reverend Jim became a cab driver after I left. I met him once at Latka's wedding. Oh Latka that was the mechanic at the garage during the late 70's and early 80's. I never figured Jim would be capable of having a job like that.

since it's fan-fiction, can we keep Latka alive and have Bob Zmuda play him?

I wonder what the producers would have done with Latka if the show was still on when he died.

I was just trying to be like Dick Van Dyke's reunion. All of the actors who have passed on had it explained that their character's died as well.
