Default Overlooked Relationships

Aside from the obvious (Sam and Coach, Norm and Cliff).... and the romantic (Sam and Diane, Frasier and Lilith).... what were your favorite relationships between characters??

I think the relationship between Rebecca and Woody was never really fleshed out as well as it could have been. Whereas Diane was more like a mother to Woody, Rebecca was like a sister (in Hanover terms, so he could still think she was hot). I think they could have made something interesting out of that. But.... they wasted their time with Sam and Rebecca.

Another one is Sam and Frasier.
They were the perfect counterparts together. Both good looking, and smart in their own ways. Frasier was the intellectual, while Sam was the crowd pleaser, but they were both extremely likeable, and their scenes together alone were some of the best of the series. (that's why I like Season 3 so much)

Comedy aside - Diane and Coach were a good pair. The connection between the fatherly figure and the outsider gave the show some more depth. This was largely an unspoken bond, but it also made for some funny moments, like when Coach was teaching Diane how to behave during her dinner with Hester and Frasier.

I'm also a fan of Cliff and Carla. They had some hilarious fights, which were made more interesting by subtle implications that Carla actually liked him.

I like Diane and Coach and Diane and Woody

It kind of showed that Diane really was sweet, she was just annoyed by the fact that Sam was so obviously intelligent (some of the schemes that he had with women showed he was very clever) and it annoyed Diane to know end that he wouldnt use it how he saw fit.

However, with Coach and Woody, Diane really did genuinely care about them, and show that she wasnt just a bitch

I <3 Diane, what a great, great character.

I never really thought of her as a bitch. Just uptight and imperialistic about high culture. She never set out to be mean to people for the sake of being mean.

I didnt really think she was a bitch either, but I get the feeling that the characters on the show did.

I don't think they thought she was a bitch at all. (well, aside from Frasier in Seasons 4-5).... but I think a lot of how they treated her was just because she felt akward in the first place.

They knew she wasn't completely comfortable in the new environment, so they decided to play with her mind (flirt with her in a sort of way).... by making it more tedious, and having her feel even more like an outsider.

I agree with Woody and Rebecca. I've always thought they should have had more moments/storylines together.

Also, Sam and Lilith. Aside from Rebecca and maybe Norm, Sam was pretty much the only one at the bar who Lilith actually liked. But we really didn't get to see a whole lot of interaction between them.

Ohh, definately Lilith and Sam,
and Lilith and Norm. (I loved their scenes in "The Norm Who Came To Dinner")

Frasier and Rebecca always intrigued me. I would've liked to see something blossom between those two.

My favorite non romantic relationship would have to be Diane and Woody, I just love that she treated him so great, she didn't treat him stupid when he seemed to act that way.

What about Woody and Frasier? That was a pretty good friendship too

Lilith and Cliff, they had some funny scenes together

I started thinking about this and thought of all sorts of pairs, lol, then I realized I was on the brink of listing half the possible pairings, the other half being the obvious ones.

I guess Sam and Woody is probably an obvious one? But if not, I loved them, how Sam was to Woody as Coach was to him.

A little more unobvious, I agree with Woody and Rebecca and Woody and Diane. I always thought Woody and Rebecca would be fun to explore more, I liked their relationship. Diane and Woody, also, I loved how she treated him the exact opposite of Sam when he did something stupid, she just humored him. It was kind of a contrast to how she was with everyone else (except Coach). She only had two years with Woody so they didn't get to develop that too much.

Norm and Carla could've been interesting also.
