The character Woody didn;t really entertain me when he made apperances on the show. I guess because he was always drunk and I was never to crazy about TV characters who were drunk. I guess that was supposed to be why he was with Esther.lol But he Added nothing to the show.

I liked Woody. He was the vehicle for some of Fred's jokes as well. He's one of few actors that played the same type of character {a drunk} in more than one show.

I liked the episode when he threw Esther out of the house. Grady had gotten him drunk, and he was ready for war. LOL. The way he left the house, you would've thought he was gonna beat her. "Get me my suitcase". "The door please". "The DOOOR"

His drunk routine grew tired after awhile. It didn't help that he played the Ned The Wino in Good Times too. Raymond Allen is a Blues singer in real life.

Is Raymond Allen still alive or do you mean he WAS a blues singer in real life? |

Im not sure if he's still alive but I know he was a blues singer when Sanford and Son was taping. He was also featured in the musical documentary Wattstax.

Can anyone email me pictures of Woody from Sanford and Son? I believe he was Ned the wino on Good times as well. I have searched and search and I can't find a picture of him yet. I need it because the guys at work swear that our dispatcher is him or looks like him.

Well I found that Woody/Ned the wino (Raymond Allen) was the same person that played on both these sitcoms after some web searching. I just can't find one single picture of this Raymond Allen guy. Anybody?
