Any Computer wiz! - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

I have no clue on how to make graphics and need some special ones for my message board. They have to be small since it's to replace stars under username. What programs do I use for that? or a willing soul with 5 minutes available to make a simple graphic that this soul can't come up with.
