What Danielle meant by this quote - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

I was reading this one article about Ben Savage. In the article. "I had the biggest crush on him at first, and I think maybe he liked me back, but he didn’t know how to handle it,” says Danielle, 18.
What did she mean by the fact that Ben didn't know how to handle a crush on her? He was scared for some reason at the time or something? I also read on the Internet that Ben and Danielle went out during season 2 of Boy Meets World.

Here are some other quotes from the article that may have something to do with Ben not being able to handle his crush on Danielle, assuming that he did have a crush on her. ""I sort of felt on the outside,' says Ben. Most of the time, he was making it to Brentwood High School only about one week a month due to his work schedule. (He was also tutored on the set.) 'I was changing physically, mentally, emotionally, and socially,' says Ben. 'And I was depressed a lot.' He was also stubbornly independent."
What do u think Danielle meant by the fact that Ben couldn't handle a crush on Danielle, and why do u think he couldn't handle a crush on her?

Michael Jacobs said on the commentary for the Season 1 DVD that Ben was very shy. In the episode "Cory's Alternative Friends" when Danielle had to kiss Ben, Ben held his lips pressed together tightly, he was afraid you could get a disease or something.

That's probably what it was, Ben was very shy, he just didn't know how to deal with his crush on Danielle cause of that shyness.

I think its best they did not date younger , both would have been slightly immature , and if anything happend between them , it could have caused friction on the show

I don't know, but I think they make a great couple!

And I learned something new...I never knew Danielle and Ben dated.
I just heard before that Danielle dated Matthew Lawrence and Will Friedle before.
