Post Ask Barry on Growing Up Brady mistakes

At BarryWilliams.com there is an "Ask Barry" section. While there are questions about the Growing Up Brady book in the AB section none of them ask why the original version of the book had (around) 32 mistakes and the revised edition had (around) 15 mistakes. I do not believe there are no questions about the mistake-filled Growing Up Brady book's mistakes in the AB section because no one has asked. I think his secretary or whatever probably filters out any such comments about GUB's many mistakes. I'm sure quite a few fans have e-mailed the AB section asking about GUB mistakes but their questionbs never appear.

Question

I haven't bought the new GUB yet, but I never saw any mistakes in the original GUB, since it was his reminicising about his time as Greg Brady, and instead of asking them about the mistakes, why don't you just E-mail them, LIST the mistakes so they can FIX the mistakes? Help Barry instead of insulting him...that'swhat a real fan would do!

In Growing Up Brady (versions old and new) there is, in the pilot episode synopsis, a misquote of what Mike actually says when he and Carol check at the hotel for their honeymoon. To give just one example of mistakes by Barry Williams. I am not a fan of his and he and/or his secretary are just being rats refusing to print any of the questions submitted to them about GUB's mistakes.

I checked out a little bit of Barry's site... did anyone notice where he talked about the recent Brady Bunch movies... he thinks the new Marcia is hot. It just kinda sounds funny hearing him admit to something like that, considering he's a lot older than she is...I do have to agree with him on that one, though :-)

Look, if you wrote a book, would you put a letter on a webpage listing the mistakes on it? What I originally said still holds: Instead of trying to get them to put the letter on the webpage, E-mail them privately with the list of mistakes so they can fix them! That way it helps everyone, Barry and all the fans. You catch more flies with honey than with vinegar, so it depends on your motive. If you are only posting to complain about the book and see if they'll print it, they probably won't. If you send them a letter with CONSTRUCTIVE criticism, so they can fix the mistakes, your letters may be better received!

Fan shman--I don't like Barry Williams at all. His crummy mistake filled Growing Up Brady book stunk up the Brady Bunch cult 100%.Whoever is running that Ask Barry boad is a chicken and creep, both first class!

To TVLandFan, would you like to hear something even stranger about Barry Williams? Over at Ask Barry he as the nerve and, thus, gall to pick on some unofficial or unauthorized film about the making of the Brady Bunch tv series for being---innacurate! That statement is enough to make anyone who knows about the 32 (minimum) mistakes in Barry's own lousy book (all his fault) wet their pants or skirts!

Red face

You know, he isn't in control of it. The publisher is. And maybe they don't want to revise it again. What would be the point if only a little detail is off to buy it again.

To Sean Snow

1) Barry Williams' book Growing Up Brady the revised edition still has a lot of mistakes. I spotted at least 15(!) of them and there might be more. The book is in horrible need of correction!

2)There is a misspelling right on the lousy book's cover which ought to humiliate the hell out of the publishing company putting it out and thus it is in the company's best interest to print another edition.

3) In another two years Mr. Williams could update things like what he and the rest of the still living Brady cast are doing (which will be a fine idea provided he gets someone trustworthy to check his info over for errors) as well as correcting the book's many mistakes, including the tragic Chris/Eric Shea mistake.

I have a question. If you don't even like Barry Williams, why are visiting his website and reading his book?

You see the book is why I came to dislike Barry Williams so damn much to begin with. I used to love the Brady Bunch cult until I read the original Growing Up Brady by Barry Williams and Chris Kreski, with its tens of mistakes and I saw how it had Barry thanking his(then) wife for putting up with him while he watched the eps of the original Brady Bunch to write his book, so I then realized the book's errors were all his fault. Not Kreski's! I want to make sure that everyone who lkes the original Brady Bunch knows just how mistake filled GUB versions old and new really are.I want no Brady misinformed!!!
Does that answer your question?

This is an old Usenet post concerning the whole GUB experience. Watch the pattern carefully here when it comes to talking about the whole GUB "mistakes" thing. BTW David E Brady has an excellent site called Brady Bunch Encyclopedia www.davidbrady.com/eb

Enjoy.

That's at least eight messages over the last year railing about what a HUGE!!!!!!!!!! disappointment the book has been to you. Seems like the only time you pop up in the newsgroup is to wail about how painful reading it has been for you. In October, after another multi-message tirade about the accuracy of the book, I publicly asked why you're so consumed by it. No reply.

So, Frank, I'll ask again -- what gives, man? Why the obsession with this trivial book? If I understand you correctly, Barry Williams ought to be taken out and shot for perpetrating such an enormous fraud on the world. Is that right?

If the site appears to be down don't worry about as Brady Encyclopedia is kept up to date regularly. Amen. This site is righteous as is:
