Addams Meet Munsters

Family Freak-Fest Marathon on Halloween 10am-5pm on WPIX!

This Halloween WPIX will feature alternating episodes of The Addams Family and The Munsters beginning with Halloween Addams Style at 10:00am on Halloween day, October 31st. The seven-hour, fourteen-episode Halloween marathon will run until 5:00pm.

Both The Munsters and The Addams Family, which were seen on network television from 1964 to 1966, featured charmingly ghoulish casts. In the former, Fred Gwynne starred as Frankenstein-like Herman Munster opposite Yvonne DeCarlo's Lily in an ensemble that included New York comedian Al Lewis as her father, a 350-year-old member of the Dracula clan who could change himself into a bat. "The Addams Family" is based on the comically macabre cartoon characters created Charles Addams for The New Yorker Magazine. John Astin starred opposite Carolyn Jones in a cast that included Hollywood legend Jackie Coogan.

Family Freak-Fest features episodes of each in which major stars made guest appearances. They include Vito Scotti, who rose to fame in "The Godfather," comedians Paul Lynde and Don Rickles, and entertainer Harvey Korman.

10:30 a.m. The Munsters
"Munster Masquerade". The Munsters meet the family of Marilyn's beau.

11:00 a.m. The Addams Family
"The Addams Family Meets the VIPs". Foreign visitors decide to exploit the family.

11:30 a.m. The Munsters
"Rock-a-Bye Munster". Herman thinks Lily is pregnant.

12:00 p.m. The Addams Family
"Cousin Itt Visits the Addams Family". Cousin Itt becomes a zoo exhibit while visiting.

12:30 p.m. The Munsters
"Family Portrait". A magazine selects the Munsters as an average family.

1:00 p.m. The Addams Family
"Thing Is Missing". Thing disappears from its box.

1:30 p.m. The Munsters
"Dance With Me, Herman". Herman takes dancing lessons; with Don Rickles.

2:00 p.m. The Addams Family
"The Addams Family and the Spacemen". Scientists mistake the family for aliens.

2:30 p.m. The Munsters
"Far Out Munsters". The Munsters rent their home to a rock band.

3:00 p.m. The Addams Family
"Lurch Learns to Dance". Lurch takes dancing lessons.

3:30 p.m. The Munsters
"Country Club Munsters". Herman wins a country club membership.


4:00 p.m. The Addams Family
"Halloween With the Addams Family". The clan thinks bank robbers are trick-or-treaters.

4:30 p.m. The Munsters
"Prehistoric Munster". University anthropologists summon Herman.
