There was a segment years ago about the couple in Florida who had bad health and very limited income. He had heart problems and she just finished treatments for cancer. What stayed with me was their kindness in offering a sandwich, drink and few dollars to a gentlman who appeared "down on his luck". He simply knocked on their door - asked for a bite to eat - and they welcomed him with open arms.
It wasn't long after that they began receiving checks in the mail. They really needed the money so it was a welcomed surprise each time a card and a money order came.... I often wondered what ever became of that story? I also wonder how the couple is doing - if they're still in Florida and if they're still receiving money orders? It's odd how some stories stay with you after all these years. jeeps |

Oh, yea, I remember that story. It's such a heartwarming story and I wonder if that man that stopped by the house was an angel. The couple said that a few minutes after they said their goodbyes, they couldn't find the man anywhere to say bye again. They looked up and down the street and he was gone. That's a story I'll never forget too.

Yes, I remember this story very well.
Each Christmas the kindly couple receives a card which includes a check for $500 and the signature "A christian friend". I too, would like to know if this heart felt mystery was ever resolved. |

It probably isn't the same guy, but there is a millionare here in KC who walks around each Christmas passing out $100 dollar bills to homeless people, and several thousands of dollars to low income people/families. One of the news stations always does a segment on him, never revealing his identity.
I think the man in Florida was the same kind of person. He probably went door to door asking for help, seeing who would take him in. Those who did were probably rewarded. I'm sure that man has several people he mails checks to each Christmas. |
