Why so slow with Season sets?

They sure are taking there sweet time with releasing this show. What are your comments?

It may have to do with how the season does in sales. For example Sanford and Son has sold tons of DVD's which is why two seasons was released on DVD in one year-(2004) So All in the Family may not be selling that well for the other seasons to be released on DVD more frequently.

If that were the case, the show wouldn't be released at all. I think it has more to do with getting the rights to the episodes and cleaning them up. The show is old and I think it's more popular than Sanford & Son. Thus more things have to be ironed out, like who is entitled to what royalty etc.

Both AITF and S&S were on the same level of popularity.

Uh, no they weren't. Not by a long shot. Sanford & Son was popular (deservedly so; it's one of my fave shows!), and may have had somewhat similar ratings, but All in the Family was much more groundbreaking, controversial and marketable. There was a lot of hype surrounding that show, to the point where people did a mock vote for Archie to become president of the United States. Sanford & Son had its fans, but no way did it reach (either back then or in the here and now) the cult status that All in the Family did.
