The Missing Scenes - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

Hey guys!

I had a really good idea for a super-short fic, but I thought that it was a good premise in general for all of us. I'd like to open this thread to everyone to contribute their "missing scenes" of TD. It can be a scene that was skipped over that you would like to have seen, or a scene that you would like to rewrite, or a scene that never happened but should have. I'm going to kick it off with a scene that never happened but I like to imagine DID happen:

~ After the finale~

Nate laid in his bed asleep. The thoughts of the last year and half swirled through his brain for the millionth time as he slept. It all seemed so unreal, so utterly unbelievable and unfathomable. He'd never been able to understand why CD had left him, completely out of the blue like that. It was like something from a really, really bad movie. The type of movie that should have made it onto "Mystery Science Theater 3000."

Nate woke himself as he sat up abrubtly and screamed.

The woman beside him shot up as well at his scream. She struggled to open her eyes and rubbed Nate's arm. "Shhhh, honey, you'll wake the baby," she whispered.

Nate rubbed his eyes. "Oh my gosh, CD, I'm so sorry. I did it again."

CD sighed and laid down again. "You had that dream again, huh?"

Nate laid down beside his wife and wrapped his arms around her. "Yeah, I did.....but for some strange reason, I think I won't have to worry about having at again." With that, they both drifted off to sleep again. It was only a dream. It had all been one horrible dream.

Ok I'm gonna help Tara out and take a shot at it

This scene is after Jinny told Kate, Hank, and accidentally Nate that she is pregnant. What they didn't show is when she told her FATHER that she was unmarried and pregnant. Uh oh. How will he react? Let's find out.

~~Fourth Season~~

After Jinny and Hank got their hot dogs, she decided now that people knew, she didn't want her own family to find out from someone else. When she got home, she checked her messages and there was one from her father asking her if she wanted to go out to dinner tonight. She thought it was perfect! He wouldn't scream and kill in a public place. Jinny was getting dressed when Hank came in.

Hank- Hmm..you don't have to get all dressed up for me. *Kisses her neck*
Jinny- Oh Hank I'm sorry I'm meeting my father for dinner tonight.
Hank- That's okay. Are you going to tell him tonight?
Jinny- You think I should?
Hank- Well it's probably not a good idea to wait until you start showing.
Jinny- Oh god what if he kills me? What if he kills you?
Hank- Jinny, we're grown adults. We can do whatever we want. I planned on marrying you and having children with you anyway. We're just reversing it. *Grins*
Jinny- Hank..
Hank- Fine. No more marriage talk. Call me if you need me. I'll wait here till you get back. *Kisses her neck some more*
Jinny- *Giggling* Ok stop. Stop! *Laughs*

She met her father for dinner at the Anchorside. She got there before him and was preparing for what she was going to say. Then her father showed up.

John- Hey Jinny girl.
Jinny- Hi Dad.
John- I'm glad you can meet me. We haven't really been spending much time together. I have been going out with Casey and his friend but I wanted to spend some time with you.
Jinny- Well that's great Dad because coisidentally, I needed to talk to you tonight.
John- Oh great what about?
Jinny- Well there's no easy way to say this. I guess for ever child telling their parents this it is hard in some way to--
John- Oh god. She's dying. My little girl is dying. Oh Jinny girl!
Jinny- NO! God Dad no I'm not dying.
John- *Takes deep breath* I think you're trying to give me another heart attack. Not that you gave me the other one--Well you know--
Jinny- *Smiles* Nice save Dad.
John- Well then go on. What's the news?
Jinny- Okay well, as I said, it's never easy to--
Waitress- *Goes to the table and interupts* Can I get you two anything?
Jinny- *Sighs* *Clearly aggrivated* Coffee please.
Waitress- Ok..
Jinny- NO! I mean..*thinks* Milk. I want some milk.
John- Jinny, you hate milk.
Jinny- Never too early to stop osteoperosis, heh.
John- *Gives weird look* Okay I will have coffee. Black.
Waitress- Okay I will be back.
Jinny- Can hardly wait..
John- So Jinny, what's up with the milk? I couldn't even get you to drink it as a kid.
Jinny- Well times have changed. Anyway, as I was saying, it is always hard to say this to your parent. Dad, I have something to tell you.
John- I guessed that. *Laughs*
Jinny- *Rolls eyes* So, I found out--
Waitress- *Interupts again* Here's your milk and coffee.
Jinny- Thank you! Anyway, I found out a few weeks ago--
Waitress- Will there be anything else?
Jinny- No! Thank you!! So, I fo--
Waitress- We have a terrific apple pie.
Jinny- *Very aggrivated. She took up.* NO I DO NOT WANT ANY PIE! NOW GET OUT OF HERE AND LEAVE US ALONE! AND DAD I FOUND OUT THAT I AM PREGNANT! OK I SAID IT! I'M PREGNANT!

She looked around realizing she had cause a big scene. Everyone was staring at her. She grabbed her coat and ran outside. Her Dad rushed out after her.

John- Jinny..
Jinny- Dad I know I disappointed you. I'm sorry but this is how things are I'm sorry. I know the last thing you wanted was an unwed pregnany single daughter but you know what, that's what you got and that's who I am. If you can live with it then sorry.
John- I'm not angry at you. You're an adult. I'm not thrilled with the idea..but I'm going to be a grandfather. I am so happy. *Hugs Jinny*
Jinny- Thanks Dad.
John- So you're not marrying the guy?
Jinny- No we are not getting married.
John- Well then keep me away from him or I just might punch the guy in the nose.
Jinny- *Laughs nervously*

Awww, that was really cute, Kelly! I love it, and thank you so much for contributing!

That would have been a great scene.

I'll probably post another one of these here soon, but in the meantime, anyone else want to take a shot?

OK, here goes another one:

~ Second season, scene where Jinny asks Teddy if they can reconcile~

Jinny took a deep breath and looked Teddy in the eyes. "Can we give this another chance?" she asked.

Teddy gazed into her teal green eyes. Part of him screamed to take her up on it, and the other part of him screamed to run far away from being hurt again. He was speechless for a moment. Then he said, "You want to give this another chance."

Jinny nodded innocently.

"How would I know that what happened before wouldn't happen again?"

"Teddy....." Jinny sighed. "I've gone through rehab. I'm different now. I'm clean now." She paused. Then she added, "I know I hurt you. I'm so sorry for it. Just please, please....give me another chance," she pleaded. "I love you."

Teddy's dark eyes still stared into Jinny's. Then, on impulse, he leaned across the table, cupped Jinny's face in his hands, and kissed her. When they pulled back, Jinny's eyes searched Teddy's face for evidence of his feelings. Then Teddy whispered, "As crazy as this probably is.....let's give this another chance." Jinny's face lit up, and then they both moved in for another passionate kiss.
