Remember to mark your calendar, Wednesday, October 27th will be the 50th Anniversary of the premiere of Walt Disney's first ever weekly TV series "Disneyland". The first episode was called "The Disneyland Story". It was originally aired 50 years ago including the theme park that was preparing to open a year later in 1955. According to Bill Cotter in the book "The Wonderful World of Disney Televison":
Quote:
1. "The Wonderful World of Disney" 2. "Disney's Wonderful World" 3. "Walt Disney" 4. "The Magical World of Disney" By the mid to late 80's, the show was syndicated under the classic title "The Wonderful World of Disney". By 1997, ABC brought back from the dead in which the network owned the rights to the classic title and aired the first showing of "Toy Story". By 2002, the ABC moved this show to Saturday nights and became on of the most successful Disney TV series in history. The classic episodes was aired as part of Disney Channel's late night block of classic Disney programming called "Vault Disney" until it ended in 2001 in favor of teen oriented programming. That was how it happened 50 years ago this week. |

In additon to the 50th anniversary of "Disneyland" the series, I found this picture from the Tinerbell's Nook site. It was the episode intro on every episode of both "Disney's Wonderful World of Color" and the "Wonderful World of Disney" one of Disney spin-off shows in which the voiceover announcer would say "And now you're host, Walt Disney". I love the opening line.
